Hey.
I recently installed Windows 7, and was woundering what I should do:

Whenever I try to test a game, it says "GAMENAME.exe has crashed." and I can't do anything! Game maker boots up fine, and I've tried reinstalling it - but that didn't do anything.

Halp!

Works fine on Windows 7 for me. You might be missing a file required for it to run?

GM6/7?

Usually you should wait a month or two before installing a new OS. Every new OS has bugs so yeah.

I have a similar problem. I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and now any GM game I try to play gives me the error "Failed to load game data. File seems corrupted." Even with games that used to work on Vista before my upgrade.

It's annoying, because I'm in the middle of a project that now needs to be delayed until I can fix this. I'm just glad I'm not the only one with this issue.

Another member had a similar problem, it was resolved when he created another account which could run all the games.

His conclusion was the account was corrupt. What is more likely is that account ran an incompatible program at login in.

Create a new account, test GM exes. If they work, go back to the original account and start disabling programs that run automatically until it can be determined what the problematic program is.

Well, I've tried that solution, NPT. GM games do in fact work on the new account. However, on my main account, I've ended all nonessential processes, and still GM will not run here. Is there some way the account itself could be responsible for the issues?

msconfig

check the startup tab, uncheck everything.
