If this topic is deemed off-topic, I'm sorry.

I was browsing the graphics forum, and I came across a thread I had been following, but not posting on. I think it was a sprite shop. I read the last few posts and found a tremendously long story, completely unrelated to the topic. It was posted by a user with only 1 post, and a name beginning with D.

Spattered throughout this story were hyperlinks. They were mainly advertising fake Rolexes for sale, but one was for World of Warcraft powerleveling. I clicked on a few to see what he was on about. I then scrolled down to the bottom of the post to report it. It was already reported, so I made a post telling the guy that spam and advertising weren't allowed.

About an hour later, I returned to my laptop to see if anything had come of the post. I searched right through the forum, but I could not find the topic. I searched for members with 1 post and a name beginning with D. I could not find him. I searched my profile for 'View member's posts', to see the post I had made. Nothing. I was very confused. I wondered if I had dreamed everything up.

But then I checked my history, and found the powerleveling website and several fake Rolex websites ohmy.gif .

I am still very confused. I thought maybe the mods had removed all traces of the post, removed my post as well, removed the member, and edited my profile.

If anybody can shed some light on this...

That account was deleted for breaking the rules. Probably.
Druid TC
Yeah, but why did the mods remove my post as well?
voltain
If the account was deleted, then the topic was as well so your post probably wouldn't show up. It happened to me a couple of times but I didn't dwell to much on it.
Druid TC
The topic would have stayed, wouldn't it? Because the spammer wasn't the guy who made the topic.

Rules:
QUOTE
When you see Spam or Porn posted anywhere in the forums:
Report the post. A moderator will remove it and disable the spammer's account.
NEVER reply to the topic. Don't reply to say that it's spam, or to say you reported it. That only keeps the spam alive.
Your account will be disabled if you reply to spam.
Druid TC
Whoops

EDIT: Hey wait!

I found the rules were

QUOTE
No Spamming (posting unrelated material). This includes replying to obvious spam topics. Your account will be disabled if you do this.

As I see it, that says spam topics. The topic was a sprite shop doing fairly well for its self.

It's obviously not a forum bug lol.

Of course it would. Only the spam post would be removed.

I just checked the "trash" and didn't see any Graphics topics that didn't belong there. So chances are, the topic is still in the Graphics Forum. However, if it was removed by accident, the author will notice and he'll contact a moderator.

hah, mods, remind me of the gestapo tongue.gif

Maybe the topic has stayed, its just they deleted the spam post, and your reply to it, as it would have had nothing to do with the topic?

Reminds you? You mean you were alive when it existed and experienced or at least know about the horrible crimes relating?
Do not talk so lightly of horrors you know absolutely nothing about.

i was not alive but i remember learning about them, and i think my memory has the right to be reminded of something.
and please dont assume i know nothing about something because i spoke 'lightly' of it, im not 5

what the gestapo did was horrible, i dont mean to say the mods are nazis,
i was merely referring to their way of removing things from existence

I thought the forum was suppose to keep topics created by deleted users. Generally it should display the topic author as a guest if their account was deleted. O_O'

Forum bug?
Druid TC
Once again I say, the topic was not created by the spammer.

And how did this become a hot topic?

Read what KC LC said to you.

Only the SPAM would be deleted. The SPAM would include the original SPAM message, as well as your reply to the SPAM. The topic would stay.

There is the chance that the topic might have been accidently removed, which she addressed.

I'm guessing that the topic is still there, with the original SPAM removed as well as your reply to the SPAM. Because your post isn't in the topic anymore, you can't find the topic automatically using the forums "find-my-posts" like features.

I did. I was talking to Frederick. Now can this topic please be locked or something?

Being confused is not a valid reason to close or remove a topic.

No, he is saying that because this issue is solved. So therfore, this topic has served its purpose and no longer needs to exsist.
NakedPaulToast
Topics aren't closed, simply because they are solved.

I suppose, but what else doesn this topic have to offer?

Yeah that's true. No mod really wants to close all solved topics because there already are lots of other (more important) things they have to do.
