Hello GMC,
I just thought of this a couple of minutes ago, I'm not sure if anybody has suggested this yet, anyways... I'm suggesting that either in this post, or in an entire new forum section (Mods?), we could have people requesting general Game Maker tutoring/teaching, or offering their services. I just thought of this because I see so many people asking really stupid questions and people that are doing things really inefficiently, because they are self-taught. Some ways I was thinking this could work:
-MSN chat (student to teacher)
-Sample Projects (teacher makes them and sends them via E-mail to student)
Please offer any suggestions, and I will add them to the list. Comments on this idea would be greatly appreciated.

Yup there already exists that topic, and there still are lots of such questions. There also exists a Tutorials&Examples forum and a manual but same thing happens.

I was actually happy to see this topic. It's a chance to bring attention to the
GM mentors.
Each volunteer on that list is screened to make sure they have a rudimentary knowledge of GM. Most importantly, they're willing to give their time helping others. I wish more members would take advantage of them.

Umm.. yeah. We don't need a subforum because a topic is already there for what the OP is asking.

Why do we actually need all of this with the GMSS... that place is where I learned the basics of GML and still advancing my skill along with the tutorials and stuff here on the GMC. I have used the 'list' only a couple of times now, and I am satisfied.

So you essentially want a chat forum then, since it's all it will be. If you need personal help, contact a mentor (I am one of them) and they'll be able to even give you real-time help via MSN or something of the like.

The OP thought a topic was good enough. So do I.

I think it's a great idea on helping those who are new to GML.

I don't mind helping people as long as I don't get "Can you make my game for me?" type of help, and I'm not busy.
Anyways, I don't think we we need a sub-forum, because we already have a few different places for help. If you want help, then you might post in one of the help forums (Novice and Intermediate Users, Advanced Users Only) and receive help from many members, if you have patience. However, if you don't want to show your code to everyone, but rather, to one person, or you want real-time help or just need some type of tutoring, then you might just use this topic (http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=154589) and find someone who can help you. Oh yeah, and don't forget about PMs.
I believe that a sub-forum for this purpose is unnecessary.
