Any GM game whether one I created myself or downloaded online are now corrupt since I upgraded from vista to 7. Game Maker itself is fine but the games just won't run. I have game maker 7 and they all worked with vista just fine.

I get an error message - the data seems corrupt.

What can I do? I tried using compaibility settings but that failed. sad.gif

reboot, reinstall gm

Surely reinstalling GM would have no effect, since anybody can play an executable whether they have GM or not.

I am using windows 7 without any problems with GM games or GM itself

also directx is needed to run gm games. sometimes it "turns off" and needs a reboot.

I can't see how that helps the user in any way: they're not exactly going to fabricate an error are they? If you aren't experiencing any problems then find out (by asking) how your situations differ. snitch.gif

OK update, it seems that a few games actually do work. But most still don't and most importantly niether do my own! I have no idea why a few do but the majority don't!

Which version are you using? I'm 32 bit Home Premium. Are you using any compatibility settings?

Its only the game executables and not the software itself.

Did you upgrade, or was it a fresh install?

Did the games that currently don't work, exist on the system prior to upgrading?

If you download a new game exe from here or YYGs does it work?

If you recreate an exe from your original source, does it work? How about a game with just an empty room?

These are the things that you should be trying and updating us on, simply saying some work others don't is meaningless.

Nope, creating a blank room and saving its executable still makes the error that it is corrupt. The same if I try to create an executable of my own games.

I did an update, not a clean install. All the games were on my system before which was Vista, they worked perfectly.

Odd, I'm still using the RC and I have absolutely no problems playing games.

Download a game from YYG and try to run. Your rundata.bat file might not be in one piece.

Take one of the corrupt exe's and upload it for others to try. If they also get a corrupt message then we know that all those exes were probably corrupted in the upgrade process.

If the runner data also became corrupt in the upgrade process, that would explain why GM works but it's created games don't work, re-installing would fix that as well.

It's still producing corrupted exe's after a reinstall! sad.gif It's also wierd that just GM exe's have been affected by the upgade - none of the rest of my personal files have been corrupted. I talked to the YoYo support team and they said that I am the only one so far who has had problems with Windows 7!

I also tried the GM 8 RC and it actually worked for some strange reason! At least that's good news! The final version's going to be available next month right?

But of course there's still the problem that the vast majority of GM 7 exe's downloaded from the web still don't work! ( I redownloaded one from yoyo website and it didn't work so I know that its not the fact that the data has been corrupted - there's some sort of compatibility problem).

Try running your games as an administrator or in Windows XP Compatibility mode. And, like NPT said, "Take one of the corrupt exe's and upload it for others to try."

My old account must have been corrupt as I created a new user account and BINGO - all games now work again!

I'm happy again!
