I love GM, but i also love linux. and i dont love GM enough to buy windows. Does any1 know if GM will be ported to linux as well?
T-Bird
They are not directly supporting linux at this time.

Some users have been able to get it to work using various tweaks, but YoYo isn't creating or supporting a linux version at the moment.

For some reason I doubt the legitimacy of that claim @ Caniac.

But it does seems like YoYo is turning away from Linux, nonetheless. It's a shame, imo, since many, many people use it as a prime OS. And since Ubuntu's rise, it's became ever more popular. The fact its' free, and has functionality on a similar level to Mac OS X and Windows is enough on it's own, but then you throw in things that Mac OS X and Windows don't even have.

read through My Tweets (@DarthCaniac), and read through Sandy Duncan's tweets (@ZanderDuYoyo), and you will find both of those tweets.

oooh tweaks!!!!! can u link me?
Recreate
Let me rephrase that, with major changes and hacks, not tweaks wink1.gif

That would be great if they did that. I happen to be a Linux user too. smile.gif

T-Bird
I cannot link you. By tweaks I meant things like running WINE, or having hacked/modded forms of linux besides your standard distro that allow you to run software built for Max/Windows which linux otherwise couldn't.
Frederick
Wine doesn't run Game Maker correctly. Some of the game maker games don't start. sad.gif

Some GM games can run perfectly on linux using wine (hint hint: mine) and it isn't that hard to do (at least, it ran perfectly on the couple of linux computers we tested).

Simply follow this tutorial: http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=418726

I don't see why people can't just try and live with doing this instead until linux support *eventually* surfaces.
