Ok, I have a very annyoing problem. My game suddenly wont start any more. When I run it, it creates the executable and then starts loading. But when the bar is near the end (I think it says compiling scripts or objects) it just breaks. A small popup window, that appears empty, flashes for a tenth of a second, and then nothing. I tried to backtrack all my changes made since it last worked, but I find no errors in the code. I tried to open it and run in GM8 RC, but its the same thing there.
I have Vista, but I've never had any issues before, and I've been able to run this game fine for a long time. I tried to look for posts regarding this, but I didnt find any, nor anything like it in the FAQ topics. So, if anyone has experienced this or know what causes it, please let me know.
And yeah, I tried rebooting.
[Edit]
Ok, I managed to solve it by starting a new project, and then Merging my game into that. When I then ran it, it correctly displayed an error message. So I fixed that, and then it worked smoothly. If this is an known issue, you can just remove this topic.

You probobly turned off show error messages, and turned on the abort on all error messages option.
Edit: Oh, didnt see your post edit. Mods you can delete this post if you want.

Actually, you're right, I had turned it off. What distracted me though was that small pop-up that resembled an error message, but that was empty.

Well, I guess that proves this:
NEVER turn on abort on all error messages and turn off show error messages.

I never told it to abort on error messages =/ It did that by itself.

Really? Well then that IS a bug. I hope they fix it in GM8. :|

Before you start shouting about another GM Bug, you should atleast refer to the manual.
Some errors will always abort the game, no matter what the setting.

Then explain why it worked for him when he merged the game?

Because these options are game specific, they travel with the GMK.
When you merge a game the options that were in the game don't apply, the options set in what you merge into apply.
And if you didn't notice, commander of games was no longer commenting on the merge feature, but the fact that he believed the fact that the game aborted without that option checked is a bug. It's not, as I stated, which you still don't understand, is some errors will always abort, regardless of the Abort or Errors setting.
Recreate, how many times is it now, that every time you challenge me, you come off looking like a huge idiot.

I know that, And if that was the case, it would happen again, and abort again, but it didn't.

Do you have to keep proving to everyone that you are a jerk? You shoot people down making them look bad at every possible opportunity. Reply with posts that make you seem like you won, but you really did not.
Do you know how many people are absolutely fed up with you?

NPT, I am afraid I have to agree with Recreate here. Most of the responses you give in topics have something in them that is offensive. Maybe you could be nicer and not call people idiots, or ignorant, etc?

Bottom line here is; I misunderstood what the settings did, and got confused. Its not a bug, but, atleast to me, it seems to be a bit unclear. The key here is the word all in "Abort on all Error messages", which I overlooked. The game will abort if it finds a syntax error in the code, on startup, and it probably should, whether this box is checked or not. Perhaps it shouldn't display that little pop-up though, as it can be confusing.
Thanks for the responses though, I know I didnt give out all the details at the start which lead to some confusion, and discussion. There is however no need to be rude to a person just because he questions you, I would rather encourage people to question others as that usually leads to better results and understandings.

This is not a bug, as previously stated. By merging the game, the .gmk's game settings DID NOT port over to the new game. Thus, settings like "Abort on all Error Messages" were turned off and error messages were displayed again, per the settings of the brand new gmk. This is not a bug.
