Pretty interesting and useful. I'm not fond of sprite editors much but I'm glad this one has a nice grid on it. A couple of features I would suggest:
1) An Ctrl+Z undo button.
2) An interface undo button (I couldn't find one).
3) An actual spot that shows the 32x32 sprite how it will look when it is finished (actual size, updates automatically?).
4) A more professional interface.
Not sure how hard they are to do or if you would know how but it is good for a basic sprite editor.

I've seen alot of sprite editing / painting programs made with game maker and alot of them are bad. This one though is a good one. But still, there are many things that need to be added.
* an option which allows you to switch the grid on and off
* choosing the image size
* color count
* custom colors
* more image formats (gif, png)
* loading other image formats (gif, png, bmp)
+ other things mentioned in the post above me

idk why.. but when a GM app looks too 90ish or too not user-friendly.. I dont even bother trying it out....
But it seems like a nice tool, if some improvements are made, i would deff use it for whenever i make 32x32 sprites.
one thing that would make it more user appealing. Is to make the interface somewhat flashy. take for the example the mmu updater.. the interface is quite nice. just giving you in some tips...
also, if you would like me to help you with the interface. I wouldn't mind. I would work on the buttons and all the other things on my free time.

If it made .ico files, I would be running around like an idiot right now.
(that doesn't mean I'm not running around like an idiot!)

finally, a sprite editor. i mean, it's not every day i see a program that can colorize pixels and export them to a readable format.
now my games don't have to be text based.
