Check out Vanessa's Venture I've retooled the difficulty and added a save feature to make it easier for the "non hardcore crowd".

Alright, I just beat the first world and here's my first impressions:

- The loading screen at the beginning doesn't look very good. Instead of having one face smeared out 1000%, just have some screenshot from the game instead. It'd look much better.

- Same with the background for the menu.

- And the portraits in the dialouges. Have the whole character or no portrait at all rather than one big, smeared head.

- All of these things stand out in particular because the rest of the game looks gorgeous. The fps seems to be smooth and the sprites are sufficiently nice-looking. The music is also pretty okay.

- I got stuck between a breakable block and a tree on the first level and managed to drop the key somehow. I couldn't pick it up again before it respawned back where it started. Some blinking effect before the key respawned would be nice. I haven't been able to reproduce the stuck-thing.

- Overall, I find the game speed to be a bit slow-paced though. If things moved, oh, 30% faster I think I'd prefer that.

- I don't like the way the camera moves. You have to nearly be at the edge of the screen before the camera starts to trail after you. This means you only get to see like three feet ahead of you, but you can see a lot behind you. This doesn't make any sense and makes for fake difficulty if there are enemies ahead.
Edit: This only happens vertically.

- How come the damage is displayed when I attack enemies, but not when I attack the boss? I realise the damage is clearly conveyed from the bits he loses, but it's inconsistent and consistency is important.

- Will let you know more when I get further. As of currently, I find the game so-so.

- If there's one thing that makes my blood boil it's having to skip cutscenes I've already watched when dying in videogames. Double bs points when cutscenes are slow-scrolling text and I can only make the text scroll faster and skip each sentence individually instead of the whole shebang.

- A close second place goes to hitboxes that are too large. I often get hit without actually touching anything. A good hitbox for humanoids is no wider than the torso and no taller than the top of the forehead.

- Change the depth of the door. It doesn't make sense for it to appear in front of the characters.

- At this place, I managed to get stuck by hugging the right wall and dropping down. I basically just stood in mid-air. I could drop myself further by pressing down again and this would get me killed because of the spikes.

- I can in fact skip cutscenes with escape. This will pause the game though. You probably need to put an "io_clear" in there or something.

- I skipped the cutscene before this boss with the Escape-button and got this error.

- In conclusion: The graphics are good, the music is okay, the mechanics are bull**** and the enemies are dangerous only because their "walking into you"-range is just slightly less than your "punching" range. Fix the bugs, make the hitboxes smaller and I'll give the game another go.

I have no idea how I managed to double-post.

I'd like to play this game, but for some reason the first file I downloaded was corrupt, and now every time I click the link I get the message "This game is still being virus scanned, please come back again soon!", since 22. May.
