Hi all.

Some friends and I recently got back into Dungeons & Dragons (the pencil & paper rpg series) but we all live a few hours apart; naturally, the amount of times we could get together were limited.

So, I decided to create a program that would act as a virtual whiteboard and D&D playsession, so we could continue our campaigns from a distance.

INTRODUCING...

PAPER RPG
Multiplayer Table-Top RPG Simulator

FEATURES
+ 8-Player Online connectivity
+ 3 Modes (Drawing, Dice Rolling, and Marker)
+ 800x600 Resolution
+ The ability to load previously created backgrounds, which will appear if all players have the background on their computer (in their Backgrounds folder)
+ The ability to create/save new backgrounds for later use.
+ 4 Backgrounds included (created by Cole Medeiros)
+ Many sprites included, to customize the look of your marker, or the look of the NPC markers.
+ Made with GM7 (Vista Compatible), ~3MB .ZIP Download

CONTROLS are listed by hitting the ESC key (while the HELP screen is visible, hit Q to Quit the program).

GM MODE - F5: GM Mode allows you to create/modify/erase backgrounds, and move/place new markers onto the board. Most of the time, there should only be one user in GM Mode.

DRAW MODE: In this mode, you can select a color, brush size, and begin drawing anything you like. Holding the SHIFT key will allow you to snap your lines to the game grid, so it's easy to create building maps.

DICE MODE: In this mode, you can roll the various dice (4-sided through 20-sided).

MARKER MODE: In this mode, you can name, color, move, or change the sprite of your marker. If you are in GM mode (F5), then you can also place new NPC markers by holding shift, and then clicking anywhere on the board.

Additional Notes:
* This program is made to supplement Pencil/Paper RPGs, and is not a standalone game (unless, of course, you enjoy simply drawing pictures online with friends). You will also need a means of communication (chat program or voice-conferencing) in order to role-play. I recommend Teamspeak or Ventrillo.
* I'd like to give a shoutout to 'Linked' by Reflect Games, which was a huge inspiration for this project.

* EDIT (05/02/2009) : Added the ability to toggle grid sizes (G) and fixed a couple bugs.

Newly Discovered
is there a server we can connect to?
Lethalanvas
No; someone just has to host a game. The others connect to the host.

I've never player D&Ds but this looks pretty cool. Ill be sure to check it out in a bit though because my computer is running slow.

Pretty awesome, reminds me of the Dungeon Master Utility I wrote back in VB4......

I might use this. I've been looking around for something for a few friends and myself to use in the last month or so (We all live on separate sides of Canada), and this looks like it may do the job.

I'll give it a try shortly smile.gif
