As a young boy, Link is tricked by Ganondorf, the King of the Gerudo Thieves. Q/E keys -> Change Menus ( only when Menu is open...)
X key -> Slash ( only if you have sword and sword is equipped smile.gif )
C key -> Shield ( only if you have the shield and shield is equipped )
A,S,D keys -> Equip Items ( only when Menu is open...)

Whey, I don't usually lag, but that went very slow. Have you turned down the fps on purpose, or do you have a very heavy engine?

You should try to get a more solid walking and attacking engine.


Might be something out of this project, but at the moment I think I'll stick to the other oot2d project

i need help with that
anyways, next version's gonna be 2 to 3 times faster

how do you change the text that says GMC Member to something else? b/c i see everyone doing that... anyways, back on target: if you need all the sprites the same speed: use image_speed. ppl like that better than having framerates lowered.

Finished downloading it, and what I think is that it's pretty empty right now, you need to get some progress done on this...
I mean, a lot of progress. There's NOTHING to do. Not even a sword! sad.gif

This is really bad.

The walking speed is wrong
The bombs aren't placed in the correct place
The sword is very bad
Collisions are bad
Boomerang is average

Everything needs working on.

Sorry for being critical, but it's needed.

Cool, but uh. Whats so good about this? Nothing new or interesting at all. In fact it's worse then most attempts at this type of game (what is this, the 4th attempt on the GMC). If you can't even finished the sword before releasing a demo then how to expect to even add enemy ai before quitting O_o

do u mean the image speed or the speed of the walking, and whats wrong with collision

anyways guys i just transferred all my code to gm7 and im updating it, so the next demos gonna be AWESOME!!

You know, using GM7 doesn't really give you an advantage, other than Vista usability. It adds 1MB to the filesize, and all you're doing is scaring dialup people, and some DSL users away.

I'd recommend you'd stick to GM6 and use GM7 to make Vista-compatible .exes.

Im using GM5 now, and that really sucks

hm... you don't really need to upgrade to 7, you can always use .exe converters, too.

I liked it. Leons is better but he's been in the game for a while. Eventually you'll be in the game and it'll be a battle of skills. Keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll manage to get to Kokiri Forest (And stop as everyone stops there laugh.gif)

You need a death animation for the enemy,
a cut bush animation,
make it where you cant run on top of the bush,
and some animation glitches.

to fix the animation glitch, add image_index=0 for the sword swinging and rolling before you change sprites.

fix those and it'll be alot better.

I'll work on those animations. I already have the Deku Baba death animation because it's just growing animation backwards. Does anyone have LTTP grass and cut animation ?

Set the mask of the deku babas to about half of the actual height of the sprites, then run a piece of code that checks the x position of the character to determine the enemy's depth. Make it so you can't get stuck when standing next to walls. In all, there's nothing here to get too excited about, but just keep working on it. Don't focus too much on attention gathering here on the GMC, it can slow down progress.

@ gamester: thanks for your ideas. I'll change the deku Baba mask, and depth by Y coordinate.
as for getting stuck in walls, it's because there was a stray pixel in the running up.
I'll wait until i have some thing more substantial before releasing v0.3

Nice Dins Fire effect, but it's the wrong shape. It wouldn't be seen as a dome from above, only from the side. That text engine screen also looks a lot like TRMS with the background sprite changed, if you're using it you should give credit for it.

EDIT: Actually, if you want to use my sprite and Dins Fire code, shoot me a PM.

It has improved a lot since last time I posted here!

But you should use image_alpha instead of making the spelleffects (dins fire and lens of truth) "transparent" and ugly.

EDIT:
And make the heart containers and rupees fit into the grid.

Use TRM's HUD. It's much more ALttPish.

Oh, when ever you take a screenshot. Save em in PNG format, not JPG. JPG blurs the pixels. PNG keeps em the same.
