Game Maker TelevisionGamemaker TV is a video cast that looks at various things in the world of Game Maker. We mainly focus on games made with the platform but we also cover a wide range of other things. The idea of Gamemaker TV was originally brought up by Danny (who is now the host) on July 2007. The show then progressed and we release our first episode on November 18, 2007. Since then, we have created 5 episodes. Recently, we have decided to publish smaller shows rather than full feature episodes. Hopefully this will keep our community alive while continuing to entertain and inform the Game Maker world.
Episode 7
October is hitting its end and Game Maker TV celebrates with it's very first Halloween episode. All of our reviews/spotlight consist of some of the very best horror games in the Game Maker world. This episode includes
- Review: 10800 Zombies
- Spotlight: Best horror games made in in Game Maker
- News
We put a lot of hard work into this episode so let us know what you think. Tell us if you liked the Halloween theme. We may even apply themes to future episodes. Be sure to visit
our website to leave your comments or submit a comment using our
contact us feature. Also be sure to check out the
Game Maker TV Forums to leave comments about future episodes.

The show looks good and all the video editing and sound is really good, way better than I expected. The only problem is that the host/narrator acts too juvenile and tries to be funny but he isn't. Overall though, I thought it was good.

He's 14 and does it really matter? Everything was good and done very well and that's all that should count. You don't have to be an arse and criticize people's work. I seriously think you get some kind of psychotic thrill out of bashing other people's hard work, it seems like you MUST do it.

Yes we do. Though we try to stick to games and programs etc, we will accept good scripts and dlls/extensions etc. You will need to use the "Submit Mail" Form for this. If we think it is good, we will review it.

I'm calling a foul.
Not everyone has QuickTime. Now, don't go and say "Then download it!" I've tried, and every site I've tried to, it's never worked. The more logical move would have been to make it viewable with Windows Media Player, as everyone who uses Game Maker most likely has Windows Media Player.
That's my only complaint, as I couldn't even view the episode.

Send a request to my e-mail. I'm not going to change the format when a majority of the people have quick-time. Just send me an e-mail and I'll get it to you.

Wow, that was a lot better than I thought. The reviews were decent, the quality was fine, and your speech was good.
Just one thing - why the retro music in the background? I think it was a bit too loud, and shouldnt you instead use the sounds/music from the game you are showing?
Also, the ads were a bit funny.

Very TV-shop-ish.

And now that I've seen it, I can give a better opinion.
This has a lot of potential and I hope to see it reach a large audience, but it's not perfect.
For starters, the acting was terrible! Though there isn't much that can be done about that other than practice your lines until you can say them like you're just having a normal conversation with the audience.
Another thing that was annoying was that the clips of the games were just looping. Another thing that was annoying was that the clips of the games were just looping. Another thing that was annoying was that the clips of the games were just looping. Another thing that was annoying was that the clips of the games were just looping.
Sorry, caught in a loop there. But seriously, if you showed more of the game and had clips representing what you were talking about of the game, then it shouldn't be annoying any more.
More with the clips, I wish you would use music from the game (if the game has music) if appropriate. Of course some games will have terrible music and sound effects, and then it's ok to use stock music.
Also, you need to set your standards for ranking higher, and if you're bashing it, it shouldn't have a high score. For example...
"Terrible graphics, the music loops... always. The mini-game sucks. The game play is lacking!
4 out of 5."
I'm sure that the grading system will get better as more episodes come along.
Thats it for me. And yes, use something that all media players can play, not just QuickTime.

The game truly is fun. I never said the graphics were teribble and gameplay was lacking but if the game is truly fun it deserves a good rating. But none the less thanks for your comment.

nice, so basically its just a GM tv show where you make fun of and criticize and put down the GM games and their creators. Nice job.
(said sarcastically, btw)
overall it was pretty good, the ratings were kinda out there, but what ever. The music was very loud.
I liked the editing. Nice job with that!
oh edit: maybe you should use .mpgs or quicktime. They are usually smaller in file size. If you want me to compress video and not lose any quality ask me and i'll see what i can do.

Well, I replied earlier but the forums were going really slow and wouldn't add my post.
Overall, the video was well done, but there's some key areas where it is indeed lacking.
The worst part about it was the rating you gave. Like someone else mentioned, you verbally tore the game apart in most aspects, yet still gave it a 4/5. Yes, it's an enjoyable game... But realize that the rating system should cover the worst GM games ever made, and also some of the best. There are some games out there that completely wipe Gravitouch off the map in terms of graphics, fun factor, sound, and much more, yet only have the possibility of getting 1 more point.
The commenting was decent at best. I thought the swear words you said were a bit flavorless and used in the wrong areas. I don't mind that you actually swore, but make sure you pick the right time to do it.
And lastly, why was your mouth off sync with the words you were saying in the beginning... I'm sure most of these problems were already addressed but I just thought you should know.
Keep up the good work and make us proud.

It's important to review good games and bad games alike. A healthy balance keeps people coming back to see what the next rating is... Not to see if the game scored a 4.9 or a 5.0.

For all the time it took you, I'd have to expect something pretty nice. I was completely wrong. This video was near shrieking. You voice seemed, discomforting. If you know what i mean. You seemed a bit high-strung. You had no emotion in your speech, nearly monotone. You cussed about every other word in the end - very unprofessional and very pointless -. You pretty much bagged on the games, then said they were good and gave them incredible ratings considering your, shall i say, "nagging". Sometimes your image became distorted and your hair blurred and mixed with the image behind you. And you just stood still. Lastly, the whole pointing at the web address was very annoying, and unprofessional.
That's about it. I hope your next episode turns out better.
