I'm just curious, what is the max download speed of everyones internet? I'm asking this because I want to know how to limit the size of my game.

Please express in kilo/mega bytes rather than bits to avoid confusion.

Around 30KB/sec.

But I don't think it will help you decide the size because some people have 5MB/sec while others have 5KB/sec. So...

My max download speed is 1,5 mb per second...a friend of mine has 24 mb per second though So yeah, like stubjax02 said, the difference between people is pretty big.
Remember though, if someone really wants the game because it's so good, size usually doesn't matter, because they're (very) willing to wait for it.

My max is 900 KB/s but some of my friends only got 30 KB/s. Don't forget about modem users (a 10 MB game sometimes takes over an hour to download.) A lot of people living in the country can't get cable internet.

but it all depends on hosts, internet traffic etc. I spent half an hour Downloading a 1mb file from some really crappy File hosting site

Mine varies.... my MAX is 24mbps but i usually get around 5.

RavenCrow is about 24mbps but also about 5-7 mbps

But think of it this way... it dosnt matter how fast your internet is... as long as the person downloading your game is not dissapointed... so make a game WORHT downloading to keep everyone happy (RavenCrow is not saying you cant make a good game )... for most games RavenCrow has seen... 20 - 30 MB is a big game

MAX download speed and REAL download speed are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!
max - the limit of your ISP
real - the download speed which varies depending on many things!

I think thats the max transfer speed of your ethernet card....

I usually get about 300-500 kb/s. With the occasional drop to about 30-50 kb/s, but that usually lasts only a couple of minutes.

Uhm, may I ask where you got your information from when you were downloading something and your download speed was CONSTANT over 1MBps? Are you talking actual?

5-10mbps is just a plain lie. Ive used a T1 connection at various places which I go to for about 2-3 years, which doesnt reach 5-10MPBS actual al all. So im guessing you use T16?

Anyways my actual is roughly a max between 20-60kbps(server depending) I personally use satellite internet. (Please never use filefront for hosting, it doesnt work with satellite at all )

I have a mobile internet connection... On download I can get 100KB/s but it depends on the place I'm downloading from. The only problem is I have a limit of 2GB/month, more than that and I'm paying a LOT of money...

Yeah, satellite they cap me at 8GB download and 4GB upload per month. The first day I got my satellite internet I had no idea there was a cap, so I downloaded America's Army; then I got a phone call from my ISP telling me how i'm crazy

I usually get about 100 mbps. When DLing from Steam I usually get about 400 mbps.

If the server is very good I get like 1000 mbps which is 1 mbps. That was when I was DLing a patch for Doom 3 or something so it must've been one of those really good file hosts. I forget which one.

I'm on Google Wifi BTW.

On dialup I have a 28.8 kbps connection so it's horrible. That way my max is 5 mbps but usually around 2.5 mbps.
