In other words, you followed the
instructions on the YoYoGame site? Who would have thought of that?

alright, I'm having a serious issue with getting my activation code. I have tried contacting everyone that I can find to contact, and I've been patient for as long as I can for over /6 months/. I am trying to upgrade from gm6 by the way. I have tried to be as polite as possible, but i'm getting nowhere. recently I sent softwrap an e-mail with my purchase information from paypal. this was their response:
QUOTE
Hi there,
I can not seem to trace your transaction through our Paypal account. If your
transaction for the software went through Softwrap, I would pick it up with your
Paypal transaction id. Therefore you transaction must have gone through Yoyo
Games and they need to issue you with a purchase reference number as only they
are authorised to do so.
Kind regards,
Softwrap Support
I am really tired of waiting to get my activation code especially since gm6 files are getting more rare as they are being replaced by gm7. I know that there is conversion software, but it really is annoying to have to convert the files every time I download. will /somebody/ please help me out because yoyogames hasn't responded to me in over /6 months/. I am not trying to come off as some impatient flaming n00b, but this is seriously getting ridiculous.
Thanks for any help

Just in case it helps anyone else (and if it hasn't already been mentioned), I had no end of trouble in activating my license in Vista, but once I changed game maker to run in administrator mode, everything went fine

.
To do this, right-click on the game maker shortcut, go to properties, then compatibility and tick the box that says "Run this program as an administrator".
Hope this helps someone!

I have tried for nearly four months now to receive an answer from both the YOYO support team and the Softwrap support team. I just sent another email with the following message:
QUOTE
Hello Support,
I have sent email numerous times to both you and the Game Maker support team and have yet to receive a reply in the last 4 months. I purchased a license to use Game Maker 7 and need to reinstall it on my new PC as my old one was lost in a fire. I receive errors no matter how I enter my licensing details. It says my code has already been activated but when I go to reinstall, it says that my code is not recognized.
Here are my licensing details:
License Holder - Benjamin Gearig
Registered Email - ||address||
Activation Code - YOY-UPG-###
Like I said...I have been trying for close to FOUR MONTHS to get a response and I still have no answers. This is pitiful in my eyes. I am not trying to be rude but I just want this to be over with. A simple issue like this deserves a reply within a reasonable amount of time...
Thank You,
Benjamin G
This will be the last time I try... I have been using Game Maker for a LONG time and have actually purchased two licenses but lost the first one a long time ago and just went ahead with a new one. I won't purchase a third
I will update you all when I receive a reply... I really don't want to wait another week so I hope this doesn't take long. Patience is a great quality of mine but this is getting ridiculous.

Maybe my emails haven't been going through or possibly being lost amongst the hundreds of others that they receive daily. I am very happy now though. I bought a new computer and tried activating GM7 on it, but no luck. I only activated GM7 once before, so theoretically I should still have two uses left, but it doesn't recognize the code. I followed those instructions exactly, clicking re-activate, doing YOY for the first line, and the code for the second (I still had the email with the code in it), but it didn't work. I'm using Vista and someone mentioned somewhere that it might not activate unless you install and run GM7 in admin mode, and I did both of those, and still nothing. I guess I'll have to contact Softwrap and hope for an answer inside of 4 months? Or is there anything else I could try?

Wrong.
I recently had exactly the same problem. I contacted Softwrap and gave them all the relevant information. I got a response back the NEXT DAY. Turns out, they didn't have my account information in their database for some reason.
We exchanged a couple of emails -- one day apart -- where I forwarded the upgrade email from YYG (along with all license codes and email addresses). Softwrap immediately added my information to their database and I registered my new computer with no problems.
Despite popular opinions to the contrary, Softwrap usually responds quickly IF you follow their instructions and provide all the information they ask for.

I don't think it's because of greed, because they'd make *more* money by keeping their customers happy. I think it's because of incompetence.
As an aside, someone I know sent an email that had no response for 4 months, and then forwarded the exact same email to them again and they responded the next day. So I think it's subject to luck. I recommend just gently reminding them every few days, not spamming.

Send another one with the email you registered with, include your Name (hopefully you didn't use a fake one), add that your using Game Maker. Okay, here goes. After using Gamemaker since the 5.1 series (registered after 6-8 weeks of use), I was dismayed by the drama of 7.0. I recall nothing but problems with it and eventually just sticking with 6.1 even though I had 7 working. I eventually lost interest and moved on. Just the other day I remembered Gamemaker when asked about my experiences with coding, and I decided to give it another go. After about 20 minutes of fiddling around with old emails and registration codes I went to Yoyo's support section. I made a support ticket with a civil request for assistance, exercising great restraint over my temper. I watched my inbox carefully for the next few hours, and figured that they wouldn't have 24/7 support and left it for the night. 26 hours have passed since then with no reply. Reading the start of this thread brings back memories, but at least they had the excuse of being swamped with emails at the time. Their instructions are hazy, softwrap has pretentious security measures that only hinder the legit customers, and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I was a bit confused as to why there has not been any updates in over a year - after all, I remember 7.0 as being far from flawless, and no better than 6.1, similar to how Vista compares to XP. I ask now what has happened in the past year? I see no improvement of software or service, and all I got from reading this thread was a desire to just go ahead and find a crack. After all, I paid for the full version of Gamemaker, and not some lesser incarnation with less than pitiful customer support. I am going to 'pirate' this software, and feel no shame or remorse over it. Despise me, flame me or report me if you feel the moral obligation to. I feel a breach of the TOS is acceptable when faced with all this. Also, it would make little difference if I receive support some time this decade and return to using a legitimate version.
tl;dr: Already own, will crack.

I think, that in the next version of GM, they should have the activation process back the way it was in GM6. In GM6's activation process, if you lost your key, you could reset it. In the new one, you have to wait for the website (or SofWrap) to reset the code. My code was de-activated and I have yet to receive the answer on weather they'll even reset my code or not. I've never had any problems with GM6's activation, so why make it harder? This is the second key I've bought because of this issue. The activation is messed up on my computer because, whenever I try to open up the program using a save file, it reverts back into lite.
