DownloadGMMark is a performance benchmarking program made in Game Maker. It is designed to give you a score based on your system's performance with 2D Game Maker games. GMMark features six independent tests, testing how well your system handles different objects, particle systems, rotating and blending sprites.
Please post your score and give opinions. My highest score was 6431 on a P4 3Ghz with 1GB RAM and a Geforce 6200 128MB.
Four out of the six tests use particle systems that were borrowed from an older version of the Gamecave effects engine. Credit has been given in the form of a banner showing during each Gamecave test.

(I created GMMark quite a while ago, and as a result much of my code is sloppy. I would release the source, but doing so would reveal my sloppy coding, so I'm not going to release it. I would also like to apologize for the lack of an icon, this is due to laziness on my part.)

That's a great system there! I didn't even know that such a high score was possible with today's computers. I wonder how this would perform on an X6800?

Yes, I've already fixed it, uploading now.

From your results, it really seems like this program depends on both the CPU and graphics card, but not as much the RAM.
Hmm, I'm working on a program similar to yours in basic functionality, but I have features you don't have and you have features I don't have.
Your benchmark, although is much better than mine and I will congratulate you on that.

fps is a constant holding the FPS. Just check:
CODE
if(fps<5)
{
instance_destroy();

because vista is a different operating system.
its "more advanced" the XP, so it takes up more cpu usage and wastes more space. so on the same computer, xp WILL be faster because it requires less to run. you will be slower running vista doing anything. gotta wait till technology catches up. i think microsoft sayed to get the best results: 2gb of RAM and 2.6ghz are needed (minimum).

Yeah at my school we have vista and 1.5gb ram. Now IDLE vista's chewing on 30-45% of ram all the time. So that's like 600mb+ of ram wasted just being idle on vista - short and sweet = vista is the hoggiest crappiest OS made.

(4.5gb ram)Lying about a computer-performance test is pretty pathetic.
My results:
First PC::
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4800+ @ 2.67Ghz.
GPU: GF 8600GT.
RAM: 2Gb.
OS: XP SP2.
Lowest average: 75.86.

Final Score: 17,328.
Second PC::
CPU: Pentium 4 @ 2.53Ghz.
GPU: GF 7600GT.
RAM: 768Mb.
OS: XP SP1.
Lowest average: 36.71.
Average FPS: 46.16.

I'm actually surprised at how low some of you guys' results are, considering the hardware you have. A 3.06Ghz P4 should never be outdone by a 2.53Ghz one, even with a third less RAM -- the program only uses about 30Mb.
As for the program itself, it's not bad. It could really use more thoughtfully constructed effects and
especially better sprites. The concept is good, though, and I hope you make a new and improved version. It could be quite popular.

compared with the other system specs, it seams unrealistic that you would get over 30k out of this test becurse the GM engine only run at 1 core, i would say the machines that get it at 25k, would be core 2 duo, witch are some of the farstest single core chips sets (eventheue thay are multicore), so there fore i dont belive you have a machine that are 2 years in to the future in pipeline devolopment.
and if you do i would love to know where you bought it.

Lol... Get your facts right next time. GM spreads the load across all cores, as a general process. Thanks to the dudes in the GM Community area for helping me with that. And 2.4ghz isnt fast for a single core.... i Beleive my brother has a near 4ghz P4 not overclocked.

This isn't 3DMark, nor is it supposed to be. It's
exactly a "GM benchmark" - it's supposed to test your computer's performance with Game Maker games. Game Maker games aren't typically programmed to take advantage of multi core CPUs (Game Maker doesn't even support multithreading across cores so I'd have to make a DLL). Even then, I'd be testing things that are totally out of the range of the normal Game Maker environment.
I didn't know this would gain interest even last month. I posted this a
long time ago.

I may post a final version as a final farewell to Game Maker (yeah, I've moved on).
This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content. To view the full version with more information, formatting and images, please
