It's (I think) one screen North and one screen West from NSV. Or it might be West from the big bridge... either way it's West of the main 'spine' of the map and South of the NW-Village. I'm not sure what's there any more. The room-info will tell you- no it won't because I disabled that - You can tell when you're there as it's a 4-way river crossing in a '+' shape. I think there's bats too.

Not sure where your last crystal would be though. Might be from a minigame, Maybe the desert room in Dungeon 3...


I don't recall a chest like that, but that's probably just me. The NSV building is accessed through the stairs in the chest-game house, I think. The one along the raised path from the Residence building. Probably.


It depends on the versions - at this stage, if your last version was recent enough, it's probably still cross-compatible. The last time an entry was added to the save file was months, if not over a year, ago.

If you're in the ice caves near the beginning of the game (which is generally after you set up the radio transmitter), that won't be 'the' Pyramid boss just yet - that's in Dungeon 4. If you're on Dungeon 4 itself and you are at the Pyramid boss, you want to wait until he charges a big attack in light/dark then switch the power before it finishes charging. You'll hear a pain noise and three little nodes will appear (three in dark, three in light). Slash one to kill it... do all 6 and you're done.


Go to the small hut on the left of the room a few screens north of NSV (where the ladder to its door crosses the room boundary). In there you'll find a guy with maps. Search his floor a bit to find directions across the plains, go to, and use them to reach the second village.


Mines are the dungeon item in Statue City, so you might not be there yet. You get them underground after opening the 'main' floor stairs downwards.

I'm not sure which boss you mean, as there are a few in Chapter 2 generally...

Axe statue boss - shoot him when the shield around his small statue is hidden.
Floating-eye boss - shoot the eye when it's back in phase (full alpha)
Four towers boss - lay mines in their tracks when the central eye isn't red.
Water-maze boss - shoot him to lower the shield, then just drive into him.

Hmm... that's a lot of bosses. I'll write a walkthrough one day, honest.

Ah thanks Uries!!! That's where the last kitri crystal was for me. I started shooting those windmill things and they made the water drain to reveal that opening that is in your screenshot. For some reason I don't have those chests there though... Do they appear after solving the puzzle thing cuz I don't remember since I solved it long ago already and the blocks are back...


Oh wow don't I feel stupid... The last biomatter was in fact at the crossing of the 2 lakes. I don't know how I kept missing it!!!!

how do I save it?

Srehpog, you probably already know this or it's been said already but the unfortunately the game runs quite slowly on Windows Vista despite the old GM version.

Oh - does it run more slowly than on other Windows versions? If so, I'll have to find a way to fix it or port it to GM7 or something... eventually. I wasn't aware Vista specifically was a problem, I thought the whole thing was generally a little sluggish.... thanks for the warning.

I defeated the first boss, then I opened the gate and got past, but then I fell down a hole and restarted.
I think you need a bit more save spots.

By the way the game is of almost profeshional standard and I am impressed. It is excellent and I enjoy its retro qualities. Its like a Zelda in space!

I feel bad but I didn't like this... I think I am one of the only ones. For one, I could not find a savepoint and two, the story didn't interest all that much.

I found this glitch in the 4th dungeon when I watched an enemy slither into the same space so I gave it a try (entered from right side).

I don't know if this is deliberate, but I can't use my bracelet after I've entered the pyramid. What I mean is, once I've stepped in, but leave, I can't use it any more, even where I could use it before entering the pyramid.

Edit: Odd, now it's working again. I don't know what changed.

OK...umm... I am seriously DYING to know those Samosaphone cheats! I completed ark22 about a year ago, and the question has been haunting me ever since! Does anyone know ANY codes besides "I want my flask empty" or whatever?

Ark22 is one of the most impressive games I've ever played BTW, after I started it I couldn't stop for a week. Being interested in music, I absolutely LOVED that pyramid dungeon near the end! That sequence was so cool it was CRAZY... the way that the music mixed perfectly with the concept of the dungeon was unreal! I loved it!

Also, does anyone know about that small island thing below the town you start in? It seemed like Srephog alluded to the fact that it had some significance in one of his earlier posts. Thanks!

No - that's just the number to dial to reach the cheats operator. He's very picky about what you say afterwards, though.


The map is inactive inside the blizzard since you don't know where you are in the first place. There's an alternate set of directions hidden somewhere near - somewhere where you got the map originally.


I doubt you're still playing, but just in case: from your comments about savepoints and story, it sounds like you might not have got past the opening prologue bit aboard the ship - which, as you say, isn't particularly interesting, and also doesn't contain any save points. If you crash the ship and advance the story a little, you'll easily find a couple of save points, and you might find things get more interesting.


I still won't spill the whole cheats menu until someone finds one, but I will make it a little easier: the two we already have are:

• "I want my flask empty."
• "I want some Coffee."

The rest follow the same pattern. They all start with "I want ..." and end with a full stop. Also, they're not in game-language, e.g. "I want God Mode" or "I want unlimited ammo" isn't going to work. As final clues: there's one other one there quite similar to the Coffee one already, as well as two (the 'all cheats on' and 'all cheats off' strings) which are quite short.

As far as hacking the Samosaphone myself, I've typed in a number of "strings", but none have yielded any results.
I could probably go on doing so for many more hours, and get the same result...

And thus there are a few things I'd like you to clarify:

1. I noticed that the word "Coffee" in "I want some Coffee." is capitalized, even though grammatically its capitalization isn't necessary. Since the codes REQUIRE that I use correct capitalization, should I expect that ALL keywords (such as Coffee) be capitalized?

2. Do the "all cheats on/off" codes still start with "I want", even though they are both relatively short?

3. Did you hint at something when you typed "I want unlimited ammo"?


Here are some of the things that I tried.

Regarding your hint about the string similar to "I want some Coffee.", I tried:

The house with the chests game doesn't lead to the island, it leads to a waterfall area. I've played the entire game through, gotten all upgrades, visited every house/area etc, and I still haven't found a way to it. If it were just an ordinary island, I wouldn't be wondering... but it DOES have a house on it, so... that makes me think that it's significant or something.

No, Coffee is the only capitalisation, as it's a proper noun throughout the game. Some other strings tend not to reference the object of your desire, i.e. not 'ammunition' or 'mines' or 'health' - more their effect.

After playing with it a bit, it seems like it prevents your health, ammo, or bomb counters from decreasing... but there's a slight quirk in that if you shoot big (power-up) blasts, it still uses ammo.

I had the same problems at first, minus the too much coffee and link edit...

I played it on a slower comp at first, and I lost interest on the planet... Then I played it again during chrsitmas break and it was amazing...

the thing i don't like of this game is that it's changing the resolution and play in fullscreen.
i don't like fullscreen because you can't do other things during the game.
and i don't like resolution changing because all my screens like msn, firefox, winamp and all other windows will change their size.
i would love to play it when it was not full screen and not changing resolution.

why can't you just make it windowed?

After a few years of seeing this game I finally downloaded it and tried it out. Despite horrible graphics, I am quite impressed! This is one of my favorite games produced with GameMaker! It is up there with Seiklus and my other favorites... I am stuck after the first dungeon but I am still determined to play this through the end!

The boss in the first part, the helicopter does anyone know how many times you need to shoot it w/o shooting a rocket that is near it to destory the helicopter?

I know ive posted before but I absolutely LOVE this game it is amazingly fun and addictive! I just love playing adventure/rpg games on my comp since there no fpses that work very on the mac that i had to switch to using last week , but i love ark 22 since i can still play it on this horrible piece of S**T! that is probaly 3 or 4 years obsolete I also like ark since the storyline is great and the game has very well made graphics. You should think about making another game kinda like a sequel to ark or something!

What is wrong with me? Why can't I like this game. It gets a 9/10 from me but i hated it! Grr! It was very well made and all but the story just didn't get me. I just found it boring. I hate myself! You are not alone.

Yeah, it's a well made game. Yes, it had a lot of work put in it. But, the story was a bit bland and the mood was dry. It basically is a good game lacking polish that could have been a lot better with a few tweaks here and there.

I would consider that a complement if I worked on this game. It seems that you are judging this game by commercial standards. Of course, this is just a GM game, but it is one of the best GM games ever made even though it was released almost three years ago.

It's not. Even though it's a GM game, it doesn't excuse the dry mood. Games like Mage Craft and Seiklus, made long before Ark 22, had excellent moods. They had living environments.
