I have one bug to report. I'm not sure about since it only happened once while I was playing. When I was in the "escape before the jetski blows up" sequence, I died the first time(of course).
Anyway, after the explosion appeared I got an error message that said something along the lines of "Unknown variable x" and "Unknown variable y" constantly. Maybe it was in the step event of something? I'll go back and look at the specific error message again.

I wasn't expecting this type of walkthrough, I started doing one which was a whole lot more complete. I thought the walkthrough had to be like the ones you buy, with first a big presentation of the game, and author. Then the walkthrough itself
Illustrated!, that's exactly what is needed for this awesome game. A complete walkthrough, with images, tips, and saved under a .pdf file. How about you finish typing the walkthrough itself, and someone else snaps some screenshots and then someone whips up a pdf file and voila?

Hey, I don't know if it's just me, but this game runs REALLY slow on my computer. I have Windows XP and all, and my machine should be able to run almost any GM creation. I think the problem may be that my computer can only run up to 45 FPS for some reason, but even then, my games don't run this slow. Does the game run at 60 FPS. Because if so, I think I'd recomend to allow the user to switch between 30 and 60 FPS. I assume all you would have to do is write code that states:
if 30FPS=true
then all.hspeed=*0.5
all.vspeedl=*0.5
alarm[all]*=0.5

Hey, well great game.
But I noticed a glitch in level 3's Boss that makes it imposible to progress....
I know I PMed the creator, but he didn't respond...
He might be busy, but I will post it here just incase he didn't look in his PM box.
When you shoot the Bossbat with 'X' the game stops for a second and then boots you off the game.
In the error log, this appearered...
ERROR in
action number 1
of Step Event
for object wing_king:
Error in code at line 29:
if instance_exists(wing_fakebox) with wing_fakebox instance_destroy()

So this makes it imposible to beat the bat.
Can you fix this please?
I would like to beat INTENT.

It's a really cool game. I voted for it in the 100th cage match.
It has solid gameplay, a fine (but not really original) story and nice sounds and graphics.
But there are some things to complain about.
The text in cut-scene go to fast for me, I'm a slow reader.
The pop-up's or info-boxes or whatever, will not appear nicely in the middle of the screen, when I am in a large room. I can give you a screenshot of that if you like.
And I think some riddles are too unlogical. It took me some time before I knew the teleporters in the first dungeon go like the candles you saw earlier, I had to read the walkthrough to know you could shoot the pillars, etc.
Still a very good game and a lone genre here on the GMC.

If you hold Space (or whatever joystick/pad button you've mapped to the sword) during cutscenes, they'll pause. Conversely, holding Enter or its equivalent will run the cutscene at (I think) triple-speed.
I only found one message box offset problem recently in dungeon 3. However, if there are any more, then yes, please take a screenshot or two so I can identify the problem.
NewsAll reported bugs have been fixed and uploaded in version

I have to say I have NEVER played a game quite like this. Even on console.
I don't seem to have any glitches at the moment.
It is a very good game. It is not to easy or impossibly hard either, and it isn't that demanding (it's always at 30 FPS, lowest was 27). The story hass got me hooked to finish this. Now I've done my GCSEs I can stay here as long as I want.

Right, right, yes, sorry.
In my efforts to smooth some things up and cut others down, I did a
little too much cutting and a few things went....silly.
Message-boxes are now fixed and properly centred. The game boss glitch is gone. The bat boss glitch also. Due to some very odd situations I haven't actually had the chance to give this a final playtest, but as far as I know the version which has just been uploaded (v
17.6.2006) is through-and-through fixed.
Secondly, error message displaying is now off, however log writing is still enabled. If you notice anything weird desite the lack of errors, check your logs - there might be something. Other than that I see no reason why there should be anything more to do. There
might be a
couple more little problems which need polishing, but I doubt it...
That said, I'm sure you'll find something.

Good luck. Sorry about the impassable bugs, by the way - they were
supposed to be a thing of the past... Hopefully, they are now. Thank you for your patience.

Really nice game. I have beaten the game boss and is proud to prove it (I have a screenie proof, trust me)! I don't know when I'll see another one like this again... most other ones are crap. The bugs and occasional lags bug me, though. 9.5/10!
I have a few questions though, srehpog:
1. Where is the fossil that goes on the lower-left corner space in the library?
2. Is there more than one ending? (the one I got wasn't good, and was really laggy too)
3. Why is the game boss room so laggy? (same with the pyramid boss)
@arao:
- That chest on the cliff is a fake. No Kytri there and you won't get there.
- Pyramid 3rd floor: Lay a mine in the bunch of eye plants. Then rush over to the lower point of the screen, aligning yourself to the two remaining switches. When the mine is about to go off, shoot with the kytri amp on.
@Aquatischurn:
You can get through that game boss. It'll take a long time though; that game boss appears in 3 different forms, one after another when you hit it hard enough. Each has a different set of attacks, and I recommend getting the boss out of the first phase as quickly as possible (wildfire attack, guaranteed hit).
@SonicJay:
To hit the water boss, you need to hit its side, not its face. Get close to him (but not too close), shoot him (with the normal one, not the enhanced ones), wait for the shot to come out, then drive away towards the side so that it looks the other way, away from the shot. It'll get hit, sink, and release a new wave of jellyfish-like creatures.

--Arao
@SonicJaythere's another way to beat the water boss. Shoot it once to get the shield down, then point your ship at it, and run it over. It drops down, and enemies pop out for health/ammo/etc...you need to go pretty fast to get it...Also, the more enemies it drops, the closer to finishing.

3. I've tried to speed it up recently (from max. 34 to max. 90 FPS on my own computer), but unfortunately the way the boss is coded is a little.....silly. Glitch - are you sure? I just ran that myself and it was fine. That's the cutscene which ends with the presentation screen for Chapter 6, yes? I re-entered the dungeon after the cutscene and the symbol was there, it didn't start again...
Framerate - A while ago I thought execute_string() was a
really good idea. I was wrong. Those symbols operate on something similar, so that's why rooms with Intent symbols in tend to lag. The pyramid boss and game boss suffer the same problem, to a (I would hope) lesser extent.

Well, the smaller version doesn't contain the OST at all, so it's no surprise the music doesn't play there.
With the 'big' version, though, I don't know why that could be happening. There's a bit of renaming involved, so if your system's preventing Ark 22 renaming the files in the folder that might be why. Otherwise if everything's unzipped together....it should work. I don't know - anyone?
