Full Version: A Good Idea

flip the master
i was just thinking. i remember this one post someone had a while back posted about wellcoming himself to the gamemaker forums and a moderater closed his topic because if everyone did that this the site would be filled with so much "hello" topics which makes complete sense. so i was thinking why not have one big topic where all the newbies post there "hello i joined the gamemaker forums" post then we could see all the people who joined this site and welcome them . ps if posted this in the wrong forums u can just move it to its right place.

better idea so we dont get a useless post we dont need:

http://forums.gamemaker.nl/index.php?act=members
^ search all members by join date in decending order with 10 results per page. not purdy but it gets the same job done

yeah but the newbies cant tell you any info on themselves or anything like that.
GMmaster
HEY! are you "flipping" me off! lol! Flip the master get it I am the master! Well I thought that was pretty funny.

And about your "Idea" It would be cool to have that but once again that would be a mess even if there was a whole forum for that stuff. It would take up too much memory. This forum does cost money. And more posts mean more money and unless we all pay money to be on the GMC that may run in to a problem like board crash downs or having to pay to be here. ext...

I get the impression that this community is more of a 'get help' and 'improve your game design' community than a 'make new friends and have a laugh' community. There is plently of those around already and it would make the help harder to find.

So I'm against this idea.

i didint mean to flip you Gmmaster it just turned out your name said master so i fliped you . so AlasdairDF, the reason for my idea wasint so much for making freinds as it was for other reasons because as soon as you introduce yourself you could describe which aspects in gamemaking you'd be good at in stuff.

Eh, people never actually fill out the stuff under interests, usually.
no one
its not a bad idea, but its not a good one either. hello and good by posts are rather useless. They just say hello, something about themselves, and then a million reponses of hi welcome to the gm forum! Somewhat pointless to me o_O And with the amount of bandwith this forum is taking up, the less uselss posts the better.
flip the master
yeah mabe it would be better if you could see what there skills are when you look up there name on them members search thing talon mentioned.
TheMordeus
Bad idea. Why would anyone be interessted in everyone who joins? You build up your rep by making good stuff, and acting well (or somwtimes the exact opposite). Thats enough for me!
SupernaviX
And besides, what's a bunch of newbs saying hi gonna help any of them? I got started by modifying examples till i knew what da beep I was doin.
SiLenT
Personally, I really don't care who joins and when.

methinks the GM forums are a bit big for that. I mean, there are HOW many members?!
