Attempted many times but failed, why? Because this game is a huge undertaking. We believe we have the best chances of completing the game at the moment, and we'll try our best to do so, but we understand that we may not finish. Before I go in depth, check out some of what we have done. (Eye candy =P)

Before you say anything about the mix of styles, I'll just start this off by telling you that the style is Four Sword Adventures Style (FSA).
And the minimaps for hyrule field and the temple of time aren't done yet.
So how capable are we? Xfixium, our project leader is very skilled in spriting, and coding in various languages, and is assisted by Cypras in coding. Tompel can also sprite well, but is currently focused on another project at the moment (I believe). As for myself, I've already tiled half of Hyrule Field, and I've helped spriting small things.
The Team:
Xfixium: Lead Coder, Lead Spriter
Cypras: Coder
Ethelon: Tiler, Spriter
Darklink45: Spriter
Tompel: Tiler, Spriter
Mamoruanime: Tiler, Design
Noseblunt3: Spriter
SinkinDevil: Spriter
So what will you be doing? While Xfixium is an excellent spriter, the problem is that he needs to code as well. The workload on him is too much, so we'd like to lighten it with more spriters. You will mainly be spriting custom tiles/enemies/items.etc We're more focused on zfgc.com, than gmc here, but we'll be posting a demo of the game (The first demo will include gohma, we don't want unnecessary "walking demos"). ZFGCers will also get a special treat, so yeah. We have a topic on zfgc right now, because its WIP rules don't require a demo, but screenshots, or trailers.etc You can check that out here:

We chat mainly through MSN, and we have a forum designated for the development of this project, so that takes care of communication. We'd like you to be pretty active, we're mostly around the US timezones.
So maybe you're wondering "How can I join?"
Simply send me a PM with your name (username or real, or both), years of experience, some examples, and how much time you'll be able to be online (multitasking: you can do other things while chatting with us (group chat)), as well as how many hours you can actually devote to working (spriting) on the project.
As a final word, I'd like to say that we may not finish. I want to look realistically at this. If we fail or not, this will have been a great learning experience. We have the ability to go far, but the problem is devotion, after years into the game, it might start becoming tedious. That's totally reasonable. To help OoT2D move on, we've decided on something. I can't go into depth about that, but we've decided to keep that on ZFGC.
So thanks for reading, send me a PM if you're interested, and don't forget those examples.
