I am Justin "11clock" Priester, a self-taught video game developer and highly experienced mechanical game designer. I have been into video game development since mid-2007.
My focus is to provide entertainment through games that provide solid and unique gameplay experiences.
I have a knack for piecing together even the most farfetched ideas and somehow making them work, such as levels built for a platformer which are played through with top-down gameplay, or movement synchronization puzzles where you have control over where you spawn your own duplicates.
I can also boil down popular genres to their most basic concepts so that I can create brand new ideas out of them and take my own direction.
I am still experimenting with new ideas and concepts to this day and consider myself an inventor in the world of game design.
When I play video games, I don't just play them but also study them: the ins and outs on how the mechanics piece together the way they do, what works and what doesn't, how flawed mechanics can be fixed or improved, etc.
Due to my rather large focus on the mechanical side of game design, I am a rather harsh critic when it comes to gameplay, and many games that are very popular I tend to not like as much as other people do. For example, I deem the highly praised Shovel Knight as only a "decent platformer with flaws." I also think that the popular game Super Paper Mario is by far the worst game I ever played and am STILL forming the rather large list of things on why I despise the game to this day. Also I'd rather not speak of Pokémon...
Anyways, I hope to contribute to the indie game community and both learn new things from this community as well as teach them what I have learned over the years.
