Hi, I'm currently working on a game that I hope to have on both the android market and Xbox live arcade. I recently discovered that the Game maker function, mouse key pressed and or released on the mobile phone is used for touchscreen phones. So I was wondering, how does it work for xbox 360? Like for example:
Lets say I complete the game and the controls to attack for pc is "A S D F". Well when I try to get the game on android market place, how would i either be able to change the controls or tell the game that its being used by a different console so the controls arent " A S D F", its now " 1 2 3 4" or " X A Y B"

I start by introducting myself. My name is LaVelle, I'm 21 and currently working and in college. I draw, program games using C++, C# and my personal favorite GML. I do pixel art and a little bit of 3D game design.
Game:
As of now, the game is still currently under construction with no working title. The game is going to be a unique one. It has a great story line like a drama with a little bit of rpg action adventure type of feel. Something similar to a final fantasy mixed with kingdom hearts etc.
I hope to publish the game and place on the markets(xbox live arcade or indie games and apple, android)
I need a hand full of individuals who is willing to dedicate there time to this game. I want to make this game before the end of this year and since its currently September i'm pressed for time.
Positions:
Since I'll be floating between game design and programming I'll only need one more programmer who knows a lot of gml similar to myself. Two composers for the background music and the sound effects. Two pixel artist because the game is a pixel based game.
The candidates must have one of following for proper communication:
Skype-for video chat
Preferred Google +Hangout-for video chat
Game maker 8-standard

RPG style leveling up

I was wondering what would be the best most possible way to create rpg style leveling? Should i use arrays or cases idk im kinda lost

Next is what I've narrowed it down to as far as how I would like for him to look inside games and what not.

TIleset and backgrounds

I just wanted to know what works better for you guys so I can come up with my own idea as to how I want to start building on my game before I publish a demo version. My questions are:
Do you think its a good idea to make several backgrounds that are pixels in a room and make layers out of them?
Do you think its better to make tilesets with objects such as tree and whatnot in the tileset or to have them as individual objects that they player could interact with?
Do you think its better to have a health bar constantly over a player and enemies, a HUD and or both?Or do you thinks its better for the health mana etc to just appear during combat?

darker contrast?
lighter contrast?
with alot of hair?
with small arms and legs?
