I've thought this through, searched through the Novice forums, and still found nothing on this. I was wondering how to, if it is possible, allow the game to see how much time has passed between when the game was last closed and when it is opened again. The game I am trying to make is a farm/family SIM, and I would like the surroundings to be effected by the time in real life. I want it to be able to do this without leaving the game on constantly as that can be a burden on some computers. It will be like the popular game "Farmville" where the crops and animals take so long to grow and then you can harvest. I tried to use alarms but that failed.
The objective I am trying to complete here is; after I close my game and reopen it it should see how much time has passed and adjust accordingly. If you need anymore information, please let me know.
Thank you,
HC

Sprites For "scavenger", A Td Survival Game
05 January 2010 - 10:35 PM
First off, I would like to note that when I say "TD Survival game", its not a shoot'em up zombie game. It a game where you use your surroundings to build object, gather resources, and eventually, escape the island you are stranded on!
I need alot of sprites for my game since I cannot sprite. All of the sprites need to be in Top-Down view and need to be in a cartoony style.
Objects
Campfire
-Size: 32x32
-Animated: Preferably, but doesn't need to be.
Tree
-Size: 64x64
-Animated: No
-Notes: Just a regular tree with big bushy leaves. If you could make several different versions, that would be great.
Hatchet
-Size: 32x32
-Animated: No
-Notes: A hatchet that looks like it is laying on the ground. It should also look like it has been used.
Berry Bushes
-Size 32x32
-Animated: Yes, make them look like they are blowing in the wind. If you can't, leave them un-animated.
-Notes: Green bushes with RED berries. Also, if you can, make it have 4 stages. 1, without berries. 2, with tiny berries. 3, with bigger berries. 4, full grown berries.
MISC
Water
-Size: 32x32
-Animated: Yes, make it look like it is flowing softly.
-Notes: Make sure that the water is loopable with this same sprite. (They are seemless when next to each other).
Squirrel
-Size: 16x16 or 32x32
-Animated: Yes, make it look like it is running.
-Notes: Make two different sprites. One where it is standing still, and another where it is running.
Wooden Crate
-Size: 32x32
-Animated: No.
-Notes: Just a normal wooden crate.
Logs
-Size: 16x16 or 32x32
-Animated: No.
-Notes: This will be used in the UI to indicate how much Wood you have. Make it look like that basic "two on bottom one on top, pyramid" shape.
Credits
Each non-animated sprite is worth 5 points. Every animated sprite is worth 10.
5 Pts - Name in Credits.
10 Pts - Name In the beginning and in Credits.
20 Pts - Name In Credits as a different color.
30 Pts - Name in Credits and Beginning as a different color.
User Points:
RavenMonkey - 10 Pts.
Druid TC - 20 Pts.
If there is any details I missed or if there is anything else, please tell. Remember Top-Down view and Cartoony style.
I am working very hard on this game and I hope to release a WIP as soon as I get these sprites.
Thank you,
HoosierChristian

Need People To Make Me Frogs
06 July 2009 - 01:21 PM
Wow, I haven't been on the forums in awhile. But now I plan to be more active.
Ok, what I need people to try is a Frog. Here are the specifications:
Size: 32x32
Style: Cartoon-y
View: Top-Down
Color: Green or Brown
Other: It needs to be easily customizable with clothing or accessories.
Thank you everyone for reading and I hope some of you will try.
This is going to be for my Lilly Pad Online game. Yes, I know, there are so many people who try to make Online games and fail. But, please, atleast try this so I can get moving with the game. Also, if you help you will get your name in the credits.

Can I Do This?
29 August 2008 - 12:20 PM
Ok, there is this website were you can build your own website. Whenever someone visits it or clicks an ad on it, you get money. I was wanting to put my games on a website I made with this. But the question I have is, is it legal for me to put my games on the website since I am making money?
Notice, I am not selling the games. People can freely play my games, but when they enter or click an ad I get money. (My greedy Self) If I can't do this, fine. Please tell me! :S

I am making a game called: Final Move (Subject to change). Its going to be like SSBB, SSBM. What is the best way to make a choosing system? Like if player 1 picks Demon Ball, Demon Ball moves with the arrow keys. But if Player 2 picks Demon Ball, then it should move with the WSAD controls. How do I do that. BTW, I am intermediate with GML, I guess I am very stupid not knowing how to solve this.
EDIT:
PLEASE CLOSE, I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT!
