Co-Op

17 February 2012 - 10:43 AM

We just released a small experimental for two players. Enjoy :).

Co-Op is a space shooter with no shooting. The only way to kill enemies is to cut them with a flexible power beam connecting playersí ships. The goal is to max your score before you inevitably die due to your partnerís mistake.

The game features several types of lovable enemies, cute cardboard aesthetic, combos, and many ways to break a friendship. Itís pretty fun and requires some good coordination between the partners to be any successful. Itís also possible to play it solo, if you are ambidextrous enough.

Works on PC and Mac.

If you havenít tried Magi yet, itís a unique and very challenging strategy game about wizard duels. You can take a look at the screenshots below or just try the demo. You can also check the Strategy section of our forums for some handy tactics and character builds.

All owners of Magi also get a 50% discount for ArcMagi when it comes out. Though, at this point we canít tell if ArcMagi is going to have a Mac version.

Why itís cool:
- Itís a strategic and challenging game that makes you work for victory.

Some early MoaCube sales stats and observations.

01 July 2011 - 03:18 PM

Hi GMC :).

You may remember me as the maker of Magi. Several years passed since that game. Meanwhile I got to work for few years in the video game industry, and recently went full-time indie to start my own studio MoaCube. We're working on two nice projects, both done in GameMaker. One is even already available for pre-order.

I just posted some data from the first month of sales on our blog. I suppose it could be interesting for many of you, and I couldn't pass this chance to pimp my personal blog, so here's the link ;):

The biggest surprise for me is how much profit still comes from my old Magi. Seems that having a commercial game already out is a huge help in going full-time indie. As your new projects drive traffic to the website, there's always a chance that someone checks your older stuff. It's a nice extra passive income.

By this logic, I think that after our next game, we should start making enough money for a relatively okay living. But at the same time, the second project is probably going to be the hardest. We'll have to do it without any initial savings, just living through the passive income from our first project.

I hope you find it interesting.

Caster - multi-platform Ogg extension

26 May 2011 - 10:27 PM

Frustrated with the lack of OGG extension for GameMaker, that would work on both Mac and PC version, we decided to make our own.

More info and download

Caster is a pretty lightweight and simple to use sound extension for GameMaker. It allows you to load and play OGG files, as well as gives you all the most useful features when dealing with sound effects in games; like pitch and volume control on sample and instance basis.

It's free to use (just please credit us), so enjoy and let us know if you find any bugs or would like the feature set expanded.
