Hitbox Not Getting Deleted In An Alarm

05 September 2009 - 12:28 AM

Hi, I'm making a side perspective tower defence game and am a reasonably experienced gamemaker. I'm having a problem with a bug that I don't know the cause of.

I have a flamer turret, that works by spawning another object. (obj_flamehitbox) This hitbox has an alarm[0]=2 in the create event, and in the alarm[0] event destroys itself. Collision event with an enemy does other.hp -= fdamage.

My problem is that after playing the game for a while, and after having multiple flamers for a while, ALL the flame hitboxes stop destroying themselves. I've checked using the debugger and various other methods and the hitboxes stay spawned. The problem doesn't seem to be caused by any user interaction with the flamers either.

Is there anything that might be causing them problem, other than another object altering the alarm. I've searched all the code and cannot find anything altering the alarm.

I know this is a bit vague, but any ideas are helpful.

Many thanks, Truely Stumped!

Grid And Selection Movement

10 March 2007 - 08:04 PM

Can anyone help me with on how to create a game which is an unit/rpg grid style game. I want it so that there is a visable grid, and then you can click to select that unit, and then click a certain distance and he move will along the grid. e.g. a tank can move 3 squares.

You dont have to help me make the game, i just dont know how to start designing something like this. Is there an example or a tutorial anyone knows that could teach me to make the movement system?

11 November 2006 - 09:29 AM

File Size: 1,024kb
GM Version: GM6.1 REG
Changes Screen Resolution: no
Exe or GMD: Exe

STILL IN PROGRESS

Turcol is a game about controlling two things simultaneously. It's a bit like rubbing your tummy and patting your head, but harder...

The aim in Turcol is to survive as long as possible racking up as many points as possible by killing space bunnies. You control 2 things, the turret in the middle, which is controlled using the mouse, and the collecter, controlled using the directional buttons.

Press F1 ingame for more infomation.

currently includes 4 levels, 3 guns, 3 cheats which are remaining hidden at the moment, 3 bunnies.

Please note this is my 2nd "game" and i would like feedback, ideas etc.
