Good to know, I'm building a PC soon so I'll opt for the Pro version. Thanks!

In Topic: Steam Leaderboards - Daily, Weekly etc.

I don't know how to do it automatically, so I do it manually for my game. I have weekly challenges that the player can download and compete in a leaderboard until the next week. So far that works great.

Basically the game downloads an INI file from my website, which it then reads and implements as a challenge, and every week I create a new leaderboard for the challenge.

There's probably an easier way but it works for me. If it was a daily thing I think I'd go crazy, hah.

This is a fantastic service. Really well done!

So if this is to be used in a commercial game, I need to credit the website or just the name "GameMaker Server"?

In Topic: New save path

Actually I might have answered my own question. Using some software I injected my old game with game saves that loaded fine on iOS 7. Upgraded to iOS8, then I downloaded the update from the App Store to my game for iOS 8 support. Saves are still there and read/write correctly. Whew!

No, that path will still work fine.

The issue is the folder that path actually maps to "behind the scenes". With iOS 8 Apple have changed the system folder you must save to, so we have made the app check on start-up whether it's iOS 7 (and below) or 8 that the game is running on and then change the save folder accordingly. You won't see any difference in-game or in-code.

Daniel, how will this work on already-distributed games?  For example, if I have a game that's already installed by a user under iOS 7 and say that game saves some stuff.  Then the user upgrades to iOS 8, where there is a new save folder.  When they relaunch the game after upgrading, I would assume then that it won't find the file saved earlier?  Or is the data migrated to the new folder somehow?

Also, does this affect just working_directory?

What about ds_map_secure_save / ds_map_secure_load ?

Thanks!!

Yeah I'm curious about this as well.
