### Artillery Simulator

18 July 2011 - 10:12 AM

This program is intended as a training aid for Call for Fire training.

If you're not familiar with Calling For Fire, read this piece:

Your goal is to bracket the Artillery shells onto the target

To do so, you will send adjustments to the Fire Direction Center using the command panel on the right.

After the first shell lands, you will need to adjust your Left/Right Deviation

Each Hash mark on the crosshair represents 10 Mils (a small Degree, there are 6400 mils in a circle) Since this is an angle, the distance to the target changes the deviation. The distance between the target and the shell at 1000 meters is considerably less than that at 8000 meters. To compensate, you will use the OT (on target) Factor. To get your OT Factor, truncate the distance to the nearest thousand. If the target is 1000 meters away, your OT Factor is 1, if it is 4000 meters away, the OT Factor is 4. Multiply your OT Factor by your raw adjustment to get your final number. If it lands 3 hashes left at 2000 meters, multiply the 30 mils by an OT factor of 2 to get your final left/right adjustment.

Add/Drop is still under construction, for now, each hash represents 10 distance units.

Feedback appreciated

### Jumping to random position within limits

05 March 2011 - 01:13 AM

So situaion is at event creation I have Jump to location for an explosion object. You view it inside a binocular.

I want to do one of 2 things,

1. Have it jump to a position within a circle (preferred), the horizontal diameter is 19-684; vertical diameter is 27-691.

2. Have it jump to a position within a square (I understand the circle might take some tough trig) dimensions are X=111 to 622; Y= 131 to 690

Im thinking it would be something to the effect of D&D jump to position 'X_111<X<622' some of the collective genius here would help, thanks

Edit: Yes I reported my topic, wrong forum

### Variable Math coding

16 February 2011 - 03:57 AM

Ok, issue is I want GM to do some calculations for me

I have these declared variables
HORL=0
HORR=0
OT=1

I then have culmination variable
HORF

I want HORF to equal the following math problem ((HORL * -1)+HORR)/OT

It has to do with Artillery adjustments, HORL * -1 would do left adjustments. When a value is inputted for HORL or HORR it clears the opposing variable to keep it working right. Any help please?

### Input value textbox

16 February 2011 - 03:07 AM

This shouldnt be too hard for some of you rockstars

I am trying to open a textbox which will ask the user to input a value.

I have the code get_integer (str,def)

The idea is to have variable HORL (horizontal left) which the player can input a value into.

How would I code it so it opens a text box saying "Input left adjustment", allows you to input a value which it assigns to variable HORL?

### Variable Problem In A Call For Fire Sim

03 November 2009 - 08:09 AM

Good morning,
Im making a small game to help my soldiers practice adjusting indirect fire.

The concept of the programming is when you click to Adjust 400 right, it adds 800 to variable HOR. On the command FIRE, it gives the command to move the Artillery shell which plays the animation and explosion, and if you hit the target, mission end.

My rut is on the fire object, I get unknown variables HOR and VER, giving me an error and not moving my Arty Shell here's the information:

Sprite: FIRE
Solid: false
Visible: false
Depth: 0
Persistent: false
