Played the game. Thought it was made pretty well.

Question to those around, though.. How many have multiple usb gamepads to play these games with friends?

@TehName
I don't know about a single player mode... It would be easy to make, but what's wrong with just playing the two player mode and letting the other guy die?
I am also in the process of adding more enemies/obstacles. The next update should have some more things to keep you interested in the game.

Well, in a sense, it does change the difficulty. It basically doubles your health, and adds a defensive property, as far as him just getting run into at first. The survival is fun, but it should get to a point where it's just ridiculous, you know? lol Like 2 minutes in, things just start going crazy. I've only played it with someone. Both modes were fun, but versus was waaay more fun. That could have been due to the lack of raising difficulty through-out the survival, though. Because we were having fun for a while, then we were just kinda like, "okay, let's just sit here and die, doesn't look like we've seen everything now."

Ah... yes.. that shift key function will be removed in the next version :P I guess I forgot to remove it.
The "Versus" mode (I guess I should rename it that :3 ) will also be worked on more, I didn't realize that people would like it that much.
I'll try to add more to it.

I hope to update the game soon with some more enemies and obstacles I am adding. But for now, does anyone think there should be something else in the background besides trees?

Good to hear about the shift key. lol Just thought of a speed and jump height power-up, could be interesting. Too much speed could give a huge advantage, though. I will say, the simplicity of controls and fighting is really what makes it so fun. Double jump is perfect for it, too. Maybe add a couple different looking stages? Maybe one that is just two pillars that you could fall off? Each player kinda stays on there own, but could also jump across. Sounds interesting.

As for more background objects. Clouds. Make a cloud background, maybe. Then just have it scroll in the back. Or make a few cloud sprites and a cloud object that spawns -200,random(room_height) in random intervals.

Excuse me? I don't understand.

Why don't you play your game and hit shift to find out? If that's actually suppose to do that, that's kinda stupid. lol I mean, it glitches out when you press it in the versus, and it makes survival utterly pointless. So, I'm pretty sure it was an accident. A simple mistake of leaving a debug test script in the release. Haha

Anyway, work on the versus, that's where this game really shines, imo. First of all, figure out how to restart the match when a player dies. It's ridiculous having to ESC out every time a versus is done. Second, add more weapons, maybe health drops in versus. Change 3 hearts to 5. Actually, create a settings/options menu. Versus setup, you know? I'd set it to 10 hearts, if I could. lol Versus is too short right now, it doesn't give enough time to really get into a single match. As for weapons, just have a variety of different types to pick up that changes your acorn to, say, a boomerang. Instead of going at a arch and falling, it could just go straight out, and come back. Have different weapon to pick up and use, more life, plus life drops to lengthen and intensify single rounds, and have rounds restart upon victory of a player. This simple gameplay of the versus mode allows for some pretty fun fights, it just needs a little more. Please, focus on versus, but when it comes to survival, you need some type of interval to up the difficulty, spawn more things at once, spawn harder things. Maybe you have to get to 2,000 points for that, but around 1,000 points, it just got really boring, and wasn't really a point to dodging anything. I like everything you've done, it's not bad at all. It's just lacking a few things. Good job so far.

If anything, you could have items fall out of trees, perhaps some items float out, such as the hearts, making them a bit harder to obtain and cause a bit of struggle between the players as they both reach for it.

How about that shift key function?
