wow, must be beacause of the new dynamic image, thats all ive changed and its server side.
servers going down for a few mins so i can reboot

I don't think that should freeze the client. There could be a few flaws in this, but shouldn't it only update the picture when the server starts, and exits? If so, that shouldn't be the problem. Now, if it does freeze the server, then that could freeze the client in it's connection process, but that seems unlikely since I was still able to register, it just froze afterwards.

The problems was most likely because of the way he updates the dynamic image with server status. And it has to be updated everytime a player joins/leaves because it displays player count.
The game freezes because he is using a method that sends a http request to a webserver and the game will freeze until the server responds.
The image and user data are stored on two different servers, so that's why you were able to register. What must have happened is that my server (which the image is on) went offline for a few minutes.

So I would recommend finding another way to update the darn image xD

Don't listen to all the ignorant ****s around here.
I think you this is a good start and It was better than I had expected.
I'm curious how you're going to build the exe's though. Are they going to use the GM engine too? or are you compiling the stuff as another language?

I started something like this before (not in gm though) and I used GCC to compile exe's.
That's what I think you should do with this too. Like, convert the commands and actions to c++ scripts then compile them using GCC or some other compiler. That'd give this an advantage over GM. The games could even be *nix compitable ;D

Could also build em as Java too I guess ^^ So you could use this to make applets etc. That'd be amazing

We used Mindstorms in our first programming project in college and it would be nice to have something like this back then. So great work man!
Great!

Aww, to bad this project got discontinued : (
But your new project seems really interesting too, so I can't wait to play that.

Btw, I put up a server on a dedicated box in my basement. So it'll probably be on for a while:
