Password Protect Documents

24 March 2007 - 04:32 AM

Hello all!  I am introducing a new freeware program which I call "Password Protect Text".

This program can password protect text-based documents (such as .txt, .log, and .ini files) from other users of your computer.  When you encrypt your file with your own password, the file will look like junk to other users.  This can be useful if you don't have any other word processing programs to use besides Notepad or Wordpad.

I figured it was a neat concept to try, so I did and this is the product.

Ideas for future updates:
-Include support for other word processing documents such as .doc documents
-Include support for other file types besides word processing documents

I hope you all enjoy this.  Any comments would be appreciated, and if you can think of any updates I could add to this program that would be appreciated as well! :)

EDIT:  The NEW source is now up!  This one uses the xor script instead of ascii type encrypting/decrypting!  A humongous amount of thx to /\lex :)!

Clock In/out Program

10 March 2007 - 05:23 AM

I have finally worked out all the kinks and bugs with this program, and so I have finally decided to release it onto the forums.  This software is covered under the GNU GPL (General Public License).  In other words, this program is freeware and any one can use it for free.

The main program, however, requires a registration key to use.  But, I included a Registration key generator with the program  ;) There is also another program included with this package called emergency_activater.exe which will activate Time Manager for you but only up to five times.

The program is very easy to use and convenient.  It is meant for a workplace environment (it was originally dubbed "Student Manager" for one of my classes but this was changed because we decided not to use the program after all and so that if any companies needed a clock in/out program, this one would be available if they did not have their own software developers).

This program may be of very little use to any users on here, but others beyond the scope of the GMC may find it useful, hopefully...lol.

I would appreciate any feedback and/or comments about the program.  If you find any bugs or kinks or if you find anything you don't really like or something you really like and want to know more about, then feel free to post.

This file is a zip file and is just a tad under 2 megabytes.  Included are 3 different programs.

Thank you for your time! :D

EDIT:  The source is up!!  However, since this was created in GM5.3a and uses drawing functions of GM5.3a, it will not work in GM6 or GM7... :D  Converting it to GM6/GM7 standards would take some time that I don't have for it right now, but nonetheless, if you can use it, I hope you enjoy!! ;)

Not Showing Game Information

10 March 2007 - 04:29 AM

Ok so this is a very stupid question, but no matter what I do, I can not get Game Maker to not show the game information when I press the F1 key.  I have the game information loading only when a certain button is pressed.  I am using Game Maker5.3a on this project because this is something I've been working on and off with for a while now and to port it to GM7 would take a loooong while so I'm going to release it as a stand-alone here very soon, and maybe release the full source for the program, but for now, I just need to know how to not show the game information when I press the F1 key using GM5.3a.

Thanks  :)
