Im Attempting to make a Luxor like puzzle game, once i get the genral basics done i will make it VS Human/AI

Ive been programing basic games using game maker for a number of years.
My biggest problem is i get to cought up in the what and forget the how.
I have all these great ideas to do however i dont know how to program them =.=
I am currently making my own Luxor like game. Shoot coloured balls, 3+ they explode
except im making this on multiplayer. once i get the basics done ill add a Ai or Human
