Thanks for commenting.

The controls were not included in the game on the assumption that they would be reasonably self-explanatory. Most people default to the arrow keys if not provided with control information, and there aren't any special keys to attack, shield, teleport and so on. In terms of the satellites, they begin to appear after 10 points have been collected, and after 20 a black hole appears in the center of the screen and serves as a gravitational force pulling on the ship to make it harder to maneuver.

I won't be changing the game from its current state as this was just a small weekend project, but I'll note to include control information in future games to make things super-clear.

Again thanks for commenting, hope you enjoyed the game. :)

EDIT: I've included some quick control info in the game. Upon launch "< ^ > TO MOVE" is displayed. Should make things clearer now.

Blogger is pretty commonly used here. I used to use it, and I know orange08 and ThatSnail (two game developers who are quite well-regarded on the GMC) still do.

Personally I prefer Wordpress though. If you go to Wordpress.org you can download the software and self-host it (HelioHost is a great free host, with 500MB disk space and unlimited bandwidth), and all the limitations of the wordpress.com-hosted version are gone. I like it better than Blogger because it's so much more customisable and has thousands of plugins, but do what works for you.

I'm okay with vegetarians. Vegans need to sod off to heck. Vegetarians become as bad as vegans if they support PETA. If you screw up science by saying "we're not meant to eat it" or screw up semantics by saying "meat isn't natural" I will show you all the studies showing that humans are omnivores and tell you the dictionary definition of natural, which is "occurs in nature" and not "is good because humans didn't mess with it".

Basically: you don't shove your organic meat-free beliefs down my throat, I don't shove my pork-based beliefs down your's. And don't join PETA because they support people who firebomb buildings which is kind of a terrorist act. (They actually gave money to this guy who runs that group) Also science is sick of being mauled.

Factory-farmed, growth-hormone-filled animals do not exist in nature. They have been created, and are now depended on, because the meat industry itself is fundamentally unstable.

They say that humans eating meat in general is unnatural; I agree that the meat industry doesn't exist in nature. Meanwhile, scientists agree that humans are omnivores; archaeological records, cell type distribution and structural specializations, our lack of fermenting vats, our hands and jaws, salivary glands, intestinal absorption, and our teeth all say we're omnivores. They say that humans are supposed to be vegetarians because we have some flat teeth and long intestines; there's more evidence for than against us being omnivores.

Not exactly~

If 10% of the world went vegetarian, 10% less meat would be required. Consequently, meat prices would drop, and consumption rates would increase, so realistically the drop would be more like 5%. Then if another 10% of the world went vegetarian, meat prices would decrease once more, and consumption rates would increase until a reasonable equilibrium is formed. So if half the world was vegetarian, meat consumption might be reduced to, say, 70%. 30% of all the world's meat IS a big difference.

Except animals are used for things besides meat.

i.e. cows would still be slaughtered for their leather.

Then the same principle applies. If half the world stopped buying leather, leather production would be reduced to about 70%, just as with any other animal product.

@Commander of Games: your lack of empathy is sickening.

@People who are saying going vegetarian makes no difference, because the animals would be eaten anyway:

If 10% of the world went vegetarian, 10% less meat would be required. Consequently, meat prices would drop, and consumption rates would increase, so realistically the drop would be more like 5%.
