The box blocks out all sound and light such that the person inside is completely isolated from the outside world. Now, imagine an infinite number of these boxes, each containing a person, arranged in no particular order.
Now, let's just imagine that they start talking to themselves (maybe they're crazy, I don't know). By the nature of infinity, almost surely every combination of words will be uttered.
Now, clearly, some of the conversations will sync up with other conversations, like some sort of delusional telephone call where each participant both imagines and answers the other's lines.
Now, both sides cannot hear or see each other. They can't even be sure if the other person exists, yet they proceed to have a sort of pseudo-conversation and "exchange" information. They might even get to know each other and become friends after several such sessions, all without ever having any sort of contact.
Alright, so what do you think creates consciousness/self-awareness? By that, I mean the ability to be aware of your own existence.
I think it simply conjures itself from incredibly complex systems; if you scanned a human brain, neuron by neuron, and ran a computer simulation based on that structure, I think that would create a conscious being.
So, what do you think creates consciousness? Is it something physical, intangible, or is it all just an illusion?
