They aren't particularly dying, but there is a severe lack of innovation in those genres.
i agree, many games in many genres tend to have the same plot the only difference is story but in certain genres, a story falls short and it's just game play. Mortal Kombat never really a fan but began as a fighter game never saw a story line till later on (or when the movie came out, even the movie suck out loud 1 and 2, but he new mini episodes look promising, anyways) and its story suck they add characters in like the new freddy kruger add on the trailer was nice but how he got their, the shia kon (i know i miss spelled it) went in tho his realm and blah blah blah, i don't think we care about that. whoa tmi about that. back on track. story. story .st...wait..graphics. huh...if a games has a ****ty story or practicably no story they make up for it in graphics (or at least try) and even then you still can't save the game.
so what have we learned, not a damn thing just if we throw the best renders we can possibly do in a half ass story, boom we got a winner.
