GM Minesweeper engine

07 June 2012 - 09:41 AM

Minesweeper engine in GM
I'm sure someone has remade Minesweeper into GM before, but the original purpose of this was to show someone just how much more efficient GM is with set_automatic_draw(0), when practical.  However it ended up even better than I expected in terms of CPU usage, responsiveness etc., and so I am uploading it here for any to see.

Features:
  • Fully working Minesweeper game
  • Progress recorded and saved
  • Custom size of grid (window resolution)
  • Custom ranging from 10x10 to 96x64, with custom amount of mines like with normal minesweeper
  • Extremely CPU efficient and responsive for a GM game

GM8.1 file

Another image, of a larger game

I have commented and neatened the code to a hopefully acceptable level to be useful.
Note: there were no resources used other than 1 room, 1 object and 3 scripts.

And, an exe version in a zip for anyone who wants to try but hasn't GM8.1

Gemrush

Gemrush.
Playing as Ogmo from YoMamasMama's "Jumper" series, you must progress up increasingly difficult platforming challenges, while earning gems to buy upgrades to enable you to progress further. The higher you go, the greater the challenge but the more rewarding.

The point of the game is simple: Progress upwards and get gems, to buy better abilities and advantages.
Controls: Arrow keys to move, R to suicide, M to toggle music, and F1 to change tileset (doesn't affect gameplay).
Credits go to Josh Coughran for the font.

Download: here. (windows only, .rar)
A zip file, for those not familar with .rar
Source: here. (gm81, in a .rar)

It's a bit lacking in abilities, variation and perhaps balance, but it's definitely worth a try.
The game is influenced by Diamond Hollow, Tower of Greed, and obviously Jumper.

Blue Screen Of Death Prank For April Fools

31 March 2009 - 09:43 PM

I quickly made a little program that shows up a temporarily convincing blue screen of death fake, for april fools naturally.
Anyone can use/modify this prank as you please ofcourse.
Here's the GM6: <link removed>

Fangames

02 January 2009 - 03:24 PM

Pretty sure most to all of you have tried to make a fangame of something atleast once, there's so many games out there...
Name what game you got furthest in and describe how far you got to making it.

Me, jumper clone(aha, had to), got as far as a working engine more advanced than the jumper 3 demo, and glitch free, from a long time back, with vials etc.
