Maybe I misunderstood some things. Thanks dannyjenn and smash ball for taking the time to read my posts and reply with decent answers.

Define resources, because I wouldn't want someone just ripping off music I made without my permission, or taking entire character sheets.

Lets suppose that someone makes an image of a electric bird with gimp then posts it on their website.I would consider it stealing if someone were to directly copy that image in any means from their website. I would feel that it could be rightful to sue in that regards, but I feel that it would be ok for people to create an an electric bird of the exact same appears as long as it was their own work legally. I do not consider those to necessary be copies of their work. If people continue to patent and trademark things that it takes up resources like food gets consumed from a warehouse. I would consider the two different electric birds to be different even if they were named as something which is the same as long as they were both create individually be each author or there was permission given to copy the images.

Heaven forbid there are no more Mario fan-games. Guess we'll just have to play the real thing. That also assumes most people have no creativity.

I see. The thing is that images are matter though. When people slap patents and legal protection on things like image, music and codes then it the possibilities simply become much smaller, it becomes much riskier to make moves and games. I do not think that it is fair to simply reserve from nearly everyone for generations to come for such reasons. I think that instead, people should be allowed to use any resource they wish as long as they have either created it themselves or gotten permission. This also includes idea because if ideas get reserved then as time goes by the opportunity will narrow. I am partly thinking about the future generation in this regards because of how they could have trouble because of present abilities to reserve images. Lets also consider this example of another bad situation that could happen:
A person creates this awesome online game that is selling so high on the internet, but they do not have patents for it. One day a company sees it and decides to patent so many many images in the game that by the time that succeed the game is considered an emulator and the sue the game for millions.

Because the music I create has so much to do with people who have blond hair. Do you not realize how much diversity there is in various resources?

They are both materials.

Really? We've been doing it for numerous years. I'm not seeing a major problem.

Ego vs. Selflessness-Hate vs. Love

They worked their butt off to make that resource. It is theirs to do with as they please.

You're literally saying "Bands can't copyright the music they create." Oh no, you have to think of something original and not rip off of someone else. We can't have that happening now can we.

I am saying that people should not reserved game ideas or resources only for themselves. What I am also saying is that if people keep doing this is that there will be certain people or group monopolizing over others in the future. Lets suppose that we have 1000 people in a room and everyone randomly is suppose to pick one number from 1-1000. It is almost assured that someone will pick the same number that someone else picked. What if the case was that 10000 people had to pick one number from 1-1000000000000. Chances are far less likely that their the same number and certainly nobody will be able to pick all of them, but what if we brought in 10000 new people each year and told them to do the same thing. It would take long, but eventually there would be people crossing lots of the same numbers and eventually there would be enough to overload 1000000000000. It is similar to this with reservation of patent and games ideas, but the difference is that multiple resources are often reserved rather than just one.
Ripping off someones work? I am not trying to rip off someones work though I did want certain elements in a game I wanted to make similar to some Popular 2d monster battling games, but I am not trying to make emulators or illegal games. Not at all, but there are certain flaws in the copyright protection system that I think could be a problem.
Lets go back to some math. Finding originality in work can only go so far. Lets suppose that I have the set of letters ORIGINAL. 100 Must come up with as many different combinations as they possibly can then submit them to judges. The rule is that contestants cannot submit combinations that players have already submit or they get point deductions. With 100 people submitting combinations of ORIGINAL one player will not be able to submit all of combinations(at least not without a penalty). Original is a word that already has a limited combinations to make. When it comes to copyright lawsuits having resource that are similar to the copyrighted property can even reduce the ability for use. We are all equal. Many humans out there could make images that have be patented for scratch. This is at a time where it is not far from the dawn of the internet. People called things original when they get to it first and few or no people have gotten to it, but yet they might have just be lucky or time honored. It could just be narcissism or egotisical feeling within them, disain greedy and wish for power that could drive this. In reality though it is selfish and causes lots of mental distortion to hog resources from everybody else and would be very dishonorable for them indeed.

But yeah, 99% chance you won't get off the ground.

What do you mean by this?

I'm pretty sure you can build your own server but it would be expensive.

No offense, but the chances of you making an MMO with GameMaker (which is what I assume you are using?) are very slim. Not a good one anyway. GameMaker isn't really very good for MMOs.

I am using Gamemaker for practice, learn and spriting, but I probably will try something else than Gamemaker if I try to make a Mmo. I might try to use game maker for small multiplayer games though.
