Realistic Platform Animations {request}

28 August 2011 - 01:35 AM

Base:
Posted Image

If you can animate but have trouble doing the dither-shading can you still post the outlines? (with the base colors if possible)
Size should be aproximatly the base size (29x55) <lol what a weird size, I musta cropped it from 32x64
View is platform (as the topic title stated)
A little info on the game. He is a monk, who found out his order is being corrupted, and he goes through the catacombs underneath the temple to find it's all so much worse than he thought. I can't give too much away, but I am serious about the project even if I can't post a demo. (it would give too much story away)

Animations Needed: (all must be at least 3 frames, preferably the number next to them)
In order of importance.
· Animation - [Frames] details
  • Idle(breathing)  - [3]
  • Walking              - [8]
  • Jumping            -  [6] Knees bend and last frame pauses when moving upward
  • Falling                -  [4] Arms /||\ to \||/ then last frame pauses when moving downward
  • Landing -  [3] Knees bend, then straighten to 3/4 view (the base)
  • Ledge-hang -   [1] Uhh. Hanging on a ledge...
  • Flip                    -   [6-8] A front flip. For a double jump later and jumping off ledges and ladders. Still not sure about this one.
  • Turnaround -   [3] From facing right (base) to facing left (base) last frame should not be the base. but first frame should
  • Climbing          -   [8?] Simple hand over hand rope climbing. If possible one with legs hanging the whole time.

=) Thanks guys. I know this is a lot to ask, but I need this main character to be very smooth.

For faster than Repeat!?

27 August 2011 - 06:22 AM

After conducting a few speed tests, it seems that the for statement is actually faster than the repeat statement. Hmm. So far everything I have read has suggested otherwise. And I have propagated these results trusting in admin research. Can anyone confirm these? So far my results have been inside the room creation code. And I have done some referencing the variable inside the for statement and not. Somehow the for statement is still faster....

Thanks,

Combining Objects

26 August 2011 - 09:22 PM

I have a parent object for all my solids, which are 16x16. But I was thinking, "what if I could combine them into one object?".
My first thought was to detect if there is a verticle line of objects, and then check for a horizontal line of objects, and simply change the x and y scales of the objects.
But my second thought (just now) was to draw all of the objects to a mask, and use that mask as the solid.
Would this work? Does anyone have a better way or an example already?

Thanks,
TMD

Looking For Old GM Game

21 August 2011 - 09:03 AM

It was a few years ago. 3-4.
It was a space adventure platform game.
Entirely retro sprites made with the GM glow effect.
A kinda Metroid-esque game, ship crashes on planet, you find upgrades and can go into new areas.

Hmm. Thanks.

edit:would just like to point out my easter egg is lame compared to the other ones =P
