Hows The Update Coming Along On Faster Compile?

18 May 2013 - 06:54 PM

There has been previous threads about Studio having a slow compile-time. One of you developers, said that some work is under progress, where the program will only load what is needed, and not everything, in order to reduce the time.

So, I just want to know, when is this update coming out? smile.gif

Bought GMStudio before release on Steam, how play?

23 December 2012 - 01:48 PM

So I bought GM:Studio before it was available on Steam. I'm dying to play and try out the workshopgames on Steam, however, If I've understood it right, its only playable if I have the GM:Studio-version bought from Steam. Is there a way to work around this? Because I'm not to keen on buying the software again. :)

Possible to hasten up compiling/running the game?

Tried to search for a solution, but as far as I know, I havent found any yet. I'm a student, from the school called Future Games in Stockholm (the school that did Unmechanical if anyone played it), and I'm currently looking trough different program in which to develop games in.

I've tried Gamemaker before, and I did buy the license, but I stopped using it because of one problem, which I dont know if there are any solutions to - It takes too long time to testrun the game (where you push the green button in the program). I know, maybe it takes around ten seconds at first, with very few codes, but later on when more content is added, the time becomes more and more of a problem - especially when trying to code. The faster I get to test the gml, the more rewarding it is to use the program. Right now I'm using UDK, which, of course, has its up and downs as well, but the testing time isnt all that long, which makes it more attractive to work with.

So, is there any way to pass by this problem in GameMaker Studio? To my experience GM8 was slightly faster when testing the room.

I'd love to work with GM:S, since UDK isnt the best way with 2d games. And if the problem is fixed, I could really get the whole school to buy licenses for the students.

Cheers/

Possible to recognise voice/sound?

02 October 2012 - 09:41 PM

Quick question really, is there some kind of function, or possibility to make Gamemaker recognize live voice/sound (trough a microphone or something)?

Or am I just far away in daydreamingland? :)
