Topics I've Started

Elements Of A Topdown Shooter.

15 May 2005 - 09:29 PM

Hello everyone.
EDIT2: Although this topic has met it's usefulness to me, you can still provide your input if you so choose :D

As stated here, I am currently in the works of a Top-Down Shooter (TDS). At this point in time, (check sig) I'm around 3% done the game. I've barely started work because I require some inspiration. I thought I could get some inspiration here, as well as start up an interesting discussion ;)

I would like to discuss the follow aspects of an TDS
-Character Design =-{ For example, how the main character should be set up, NPCs... etc.
-Enemy Design, =-{ Difficulty of the enemies, type (zombies, intelligent soliders), and the techniques that they should use
-Physics, =-{ Should there be any? I mean, it's only Game Maker
-A.I., =-{ Aspects, techniques, levels, etc.
Level design =-{ How long is an ideal shooter? 10 levels? 27? 32? etc...
Voice Dialog =-{ Lately, I've been thinking about voice dialog for my game. Is it too much for a GM game in terms of filesize? But it would be pretty cool if it was good acting.
Cinematics, =-{ Are they really necessary for 'good' gameplay?
EDIT: Removed the "weapons" part. I think it doesn't need to be discussed further ;)
EDIT2 I won't put it back up because  I don't need any discussion on that item.

Hopefully I can become inspired by some things that come out of this. ;)

Still Taking Requests...

Hello Everyone.

I'm continuing my post from here so if you have any reqests, mail me at <removed>

***Stuff you need to know***
-The music is in MIDI format 0. I use the program Calkwalk Pro Audio 9
-I need to have (good) recognition in the Credits
-I need to see the game and the part that the music will be written for
-You need to tell me what kind you want (Orchestral, Rock, Sad, Happy, etc...)
-I will give you the music after it is done.
-I work for free. The only thing I ask for is a copy of the game once it is done, and -recognition whenever or wherever you distribute it
-The game must be delievered to me in a .gmd or .gm6 format (preferably .gm6). It can be delivered in a exe file, but I have to be able to "test" the music to the part it is written for.

I can give some samples/examples if you wish... :(

I Will Make Decent Music For Your Games

29 December 2004 - 02:30 AM

Hi.
I can write some music for almost any games that you have for me. The music isn't of "perfect" quality but it sure as hell is good. If you are interested in this, e-mail me at <removed>

I must be given credit, if the game is to be sold, I feel that I deserve a bit of the profit
