#4314200 "War!" - Map Recently Extended

Yeah, but I don't recall what they're doing. Perhaps we can have an aerial battle sometime over land and draw a bunch of airplane crashes lol.

Oh, you and your fancy graphics Phantom, making us all look bad. :P

EDIT: If somebody complies a list of alliances, I will put it in the second post.

Posted by CrashingThunder on 18 June 2013 - 05:25 PM

Okay, yes. Let's clear up some things. Here's how posting should go:

Step 0) If you're planning ahead and want ample time to edit the map, take the most recent map and get to work

Step 1) Post your "dibs" post. Max time 20-30 minutes.

Step 2) Refresh the thread, and make sure nobody else has posted. If they have, take their post and edit in your work. It's not that hard to do.

Step 3) Make your post

Post once per day, AROUND 24 hours apart. If it's ~20 hours, you're alright. Anything below 16 hours or so is too soon. Don't aim for borderline.

Or you could just check the thread BEFORE you post, and if somebody made a turn, take their image and edit in your stuff. It's not difficult. That being said, don't make dibs posts if you don't intend to deliver in less than 20 minutes or so.

#4308182 "War!" - Map Recently Extended

EXPANDED MAP (AS OF PAGE #14)

OPEN AREAS FOR NEW PLAYERS!

WAR!

A creative graphics-based game

I've started this game on many forums in the past, and it always ends up being a blast! So, I figured I would share this great forum game with you guys!

Basic Premise:

  • The game consists of a map, and any one person starts their play by "claiming" a piece of land as their own.
  • As a player, you control what your empire does. The key to having fun in this game is CREATIVITY!
  • You can go to war with other empires, research technologies, or do anything you feel like, WITHIN REASON (see rules/guidelines below)

Rules:

  • Don't claim the entire landmass (unless you just want a small island or something) You can expand your land over time, with your own discretion.
  • Please only edit the map for your empire ONCE PER DAY.
  • You can post on this forum more than once per day, but you can only make one update to your kinddom once a day.
  • No altering other people's artwork. If you must do something, try to not make it obtrusive.
  • No nukes, or blowing everything up. That's just not any fun, is it. If you do we'll just go to the last map picture.
  • Save as PNG! Please, just do it. You can upload your image and host it here using an image hosting site (I recommend www.imgur.com)

We'll figure things out as we go. Here is the map!

Also, to make things easier, please choose a color to represent yourself with! Once a color has been chosen, that color cannot be used by other players. If you're confused on anything, don't hesitate to ask. I'm sure there are some things I need to explain better. Also, remember that this isn't a contest. It's about being creative, roleplaying, etc. Think Age of Empires / Civilization / Sim City, but without any restrictions.

EDIT: Here is a link to what I'm after. Back when I used the minecraft forums, I posted it there under the username Jdog127.

http://www.minecraft...r-the-original/

If I can get something like the link above, I would be more than pleased. Seriously -- check out that thread. Look around on random pages of it. It was crazy how into it people got. I loved reading it.

    mistakeCount += 1
}

if(mistakeCount == maxMistakes) {
    room_restart()
    mistakeCount = 0
}

#4302489 Oculus Light Bender

Posted by CrashingThunder on 04 June 2013 - 05:08 PM

Very polished! The music was nice, and all the sound effects do a great job of creating immersion in the gameplay. All of the light effects are very nice as well, and the learning curve, from what little I played, is good as well. The summoning aspect is also nice, as it adds more depth to the gameplay.

Now, although everything is pretty nicely polished, I got tired after a few levels. Maybe crowding the screen with things adds to the hectic aspect of your game, but it can be a bit too much at times. But that's probably just me and having a short attention span. You did an excellent job of adding new aspects of gameplay in a timely manner.

If you could, please take the time to check out my WIP game! http://gmc.yoyogames...opic=582854&hl=

#4302486 Nutiy The Video Game (A 2D Cat Action Game!)

Posted by CrashingThunder on 04 June 2013 - 04:54 PM

I liked the whole "freak" mode aspect. It adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay, but it's kind of easy to get stuck on a wall. Controls were solid and easy to use, and the ability to customize controls is a nice addition as well.The cat sprite looks nice, but some other sprites don't look so great. The style of the graphics varies quite a bit, actually. It drastically needs sounds, too!

Overall, it needs some work, but I think it could become a more enjoyable game with the addition of some sounds, music, and updated graphics. If you could, could you take the time to check out my WIP game as well?

#4301325 The Game Of You Must Die

Posted by CrashingThunder on 03 June 2013 - 01:22 AM

I died a few times before I got tired of it. Everything seemed nicely animated though. Polished pretty well.

Also, to do screenshots on the forums. Take a screenshot of your game by pressing F9 while playing it. Go to an image hosting site (i like www.imgur.com) and upload it there. Take the direct link, and use that link in the forum post. When posting, click on the picture icon (next to the code icon) and post that direct link URL.

More screenshots located in the Yoyogames sandbox link!

Features:

  • Smooth 360 movement in All Range Mode, and a standard RAIL mode, in which the arwing is locked in place
  • Shooting lasers, along with a charge shot by holding and releasing the button
  • Boosting and braking in All Range Mode
  • Sturdy dialogue system, with actual voice clips from the original 64 game!
  • Enemy formation system, with plenty of room for variation! I can create lines of enemies, horizontal or vertical. I can create delta formations, box formations, and soon much more. Each formation can be given a specific direction and speed, or some formations can even follow a path. I'm quite proud of what I have so far, and I know I can make it even better.

Currently has two levels. The training level, and the first actual mission. Please take the time to play the ENTIRE demo. The first mission is much better than the tutorial, and I've spent A LOT of time working on all of the timings of everything. Making actual game play mesh with dialogue AND MUSIC is not easy. Every voice and timing was well thought out. It won't take longer than 10 minutes to play this demo.

Thanks in advance for any replies! I appreciate them VERY much.

#3579586 DigBox -- Competition06 entry -- UPDATED!

Posted by CrashingThunder on 08 August 2010 - 03:17 AM

I don't like being forced to be behind the "instream". Perhaps make it move to the other side of the screen when I go behind it?

EDIT: update your download on the first post please. It's fine now that I've played the newer version
