For my last post, I didn't mean to be offensive. No hard feelings, ok?

Anyways, I have XP, so I think that is why.  :(

No offence taken  :D. Sorry it won't work on your computer.   :chikin

Right, I just played the game and it worked fine - Windows7, 64-bit - all except for creating a save file. It said after each level that it couldn't save to the file ss or something. I'm assuming its because it wants to overwrite a previous file, rather than creating a new one, and the previous file isn't downloaded with the .exe to save to in the first place....?

Right, onto the game:
> Firstly, the music was brilliant and probably what made the game for me. The composer should be credited more highly, I feel - I really did enjoy the music, and it suited the game's style perfectly.

> Secondly, the gameplay itself was fairly good - I enjoyed playing it and the fact that the gears had a purpose - the shop - was a great addition. The swimming worked well, as did the HP system, and the enemies were of an acceptable standard.

> The jumping worked well - the down button increasing the height - however I would have liked to see variably jumping. (Where you jump higher depending on how long you hold the button for). There was a point with the tiny platforms on the second level which was a tiny bit hard, too - I found it difficult to make the gap and lost a couple of lives. It shouldn't be that difficult so soon - they should be closer together.

> The attacking was fine overall, but nothing amazing. It did the job though.

> The springs added variety - the levels were varied enough to keep up my interest, and the enemies were varied, too.

> Overall, the game was fun to play, and it kept up my interest, but then I accidentally went on the same level again, wanted to return to the menu so pressed escape, which closed the game. There needs to be a "Main Menu" button in-game, so this doesn't happen. As the save feature didn't work, I couldn't resume, so stopped playing. This will put others off as well - definitely fix it soon!

Yeah - a good game. I would recommend it, and the gameplay was fun, but please fix the saving!

EDIT: Also, the name-entering at the start was good - it didn't require a 'string input' box - fairly advanced for a 1-year programmer! Nice.

Hey ,thanks for the positive feedback!
To start off, I don't have a clue why your experiencing the saving problem. It works fine for me, so perhaps its the thingy i uploaded? I will make sure to test out the save feature to make sure it works properly.
I will have to make the jumping bit on level 2 a bit easier. I didn't know it would be found that frustrating really, but yeah, its probably a bit of a dramatic difficulty leap. ill move these platforms closer together
Ill also make the Esc do stuff. On a level, it will bring you back to the level select. From there, pressing again will take you to the Main menu where you can quit.
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry that this message is a bit rushed.I did write a beter reply, but my brother thought that the text looked fun to delete. That reply is lost forever now, lol   .
Thanks again, junhalestone

Well, there are three things I need to lay down for you before I critisize your work.

First, in order for anybody to give good advice to you, you need to give us specifics on which areas do you think we should judge you on or tell what to fix. For instance, the graphics. If you wanted us to focus more on graphics to help you improve them, you could have told us to tell in which areas of your graphics to improve. That is the first thing.

Second thing is, how long have you been programming(or at least using Game Maker)? Because I want to know how to judge you. If you have been only making games for a few weeks, months, or less(or close to) one year, I would say that it is "good" from a point of view that you tried. Now, if you have been using Game Maker for a while, for instance 1 or more years, then I would say this is definitely not your best. So, pleas tell me how long you have been making games.

Thirdly, for some apparent reason I cannot play your game. Either it is my computer, or it is your game because I keep getting the error "Unexpected error has occured".

Now, all I can say is, until I play the game(or able to), keep working on the game, especially graphics. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I think the main area I was really looking for was the game play, to be honest, and whether it works well, is fun, and whether anyone has found glitches. Ive been making games for about a year, actually, although i am a bit behind because my computer broke down for a couple of months. An,I don't know why your getting the error... It works fine on my computer, although a friend have said they are having trouble as well. Other friends can play it fine though, so... Perhaps its something to with the computer, maybe OS. The game was built on Windows 7 64 bit. Perhaps thats the reason, but i don't know...
