In Topic: installing GM 8.1 standard on domain PC

Bumping - This *should* really be posted in the Education section...

For classroom use, only the full version (not Lite) can be installed using an MSI. The version we provide for personal use by the students at home or outside of class on their own machines does NOT work with an MSI and must be installed on each PC as it uses a secure DRM that needs to be authenticated to the hardware.

The Lite version is intended for singular use, it is not adapted for multiple users on a network and so can be common problem running. The full version bypasses this. Sorry, we don't have any technical support for the lite version. For further information please see http://wiki.yoyogame...ion#MSI_version

Also, refer to our help center which should hopefully answer any questions regarding school installations quickly - http://help.yoyogame...52856-Education
This will be soon expanded to allow users (like yourself) to comment and contribute articles.

In Topic: YoYo Partners to releas GameMaker: Studio on Steam

04 October 2012 - 03:33 PM

It's important because I am primarily interested in GameMaker's Windows 8 and Windows Phone development capabilities stated in last month's press release.

That is a very good question.. I have no idea how they will add the exports to current users, but maybe if you buy Masters now you could get some sort of discount when the Windows 8 exports come out.. just maybe, through!

It is a good question! We cannot release ANY information on this yet but we can assure that Master Collection owners will not be disadvantaged by buying now and not later. In other words, we would advise it is more beneficial to get this now than just an initial price saving ;)

We have LOTS of love for current Studio owners so don't panic! We fully expect to get hit with a lot of questions and our new help centre http://help.yoyogames.com/home will be updating with Steam/Studio FAQ. There will be offers for Studio owners current and new and we'll explain what to do.

This is really for those that have already gone through the publishing process, so we can see where the difficulties and advantages are.
