Escape from the Ink

Escape from the Ink

There are 25 levels (26 really) and in regards to play time it depends on how easy you find the puzzles.
I forgot to remove it but there is a way to skip levels. It's not hard to find but it's not as satisfying when completing the game.

Incredibly unpolished.

EFTI is a puzzle game where you manoeuvre a little dude around the landscape and get him to the exit. This would be incredibly easy if it weren't for the big eyeball creatures called The Ink!

If you step into their line of vision they will ZAP you back to the beginning. They stand guard on every nook and cranny watching in all directions.

You do have one advantage though. Secret buttons scattered across the landscape force the Ink to turn on the spot allowing new pathways to open up!

What's Your Opinion On Profanity?

27 February 2010 - 12:07 PM

What's your opinion on profanity?

I'm writing a paper on swearing and it's effect on the audience and I'm wondering what you personally think about swearing in games.
Getting your opinion on the matter would be really helpful and quite insightful to others who are interested.

1) Would you let your children, hypothetically play games with swearing involved?

2) What particular words do you find offensive if any?

3) If you were to include swearing in your game would it be for comedic or dramatic reasons?

4) Have you ever been offended by swearing in a game? If so what game and what word?

5) If you wouldn't mind answering what age are you?

That's all I have to ask.
Again, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My Planet

My Planet

This is just an idea I had for a game and I want to know whether you guys think you'd play it or not.
The entire game will be set on a very, very small planet that just fits on you're screen. You live on this planet and you can walk around it and even jump, landing on the same spot. In this game there is no such thing as "falling off cliffs" because it's only a small ball on which you can roam around in.

Little rock, little people, big weapons
Think of it like Worms but with only two characters. One (probably a red coloured character) will be on one hemisphere of the planet and the other (blue coloured) will be on the other hemisphere and the goal will be to simply kill the other player. You'll have a range of tactics from grenades to air strikes and even drilling through the centre of the planet. Of course this would mean destructable terrain making the planet smaller and smaller. If there is no destructable terrain then it would simpler and probably less confusing.

Man on the Moon? More like man IS the Moon!
If you fire a bullet it will move around the planet instead of going into the abyss of space. If you throw a grenade it too will fly around the planet but don't throw it too hard, it might get sent into orbit. The concept of orbit could also apply to characters. If they jump they'll land back on their feet. However if a character is, shall we say, exploded by an A-Bomb then they're body will be in orbit. If they're killed then the other player wins, if not then they can still attack but they now have the burden of flight.

Where do you s**t?
In a toilet, which is why there might also be the possibility to build and develop you're own base or city. Not quite sure how this could improve game play or what these buildings will do but it's a consideration.

Do a Columbo
Oh, one last thing. The above diagrams might not be to scale. The planet might be smaller/bigger and the characters might be smaller/bigger aswell. Also the graphics might be completely different. No, they WILL be completely different.
Their might also be weather. Rain, wind, excessive heat, ice ages, hurricains, lightning that affect the planet and the behaviour of certain weapons. I might also consider have other planets that you see occasionally in the distance or something.

Sounds boring
If you think this sounds boring then consider the other game play mechanics one can do with a small round planet. Mini games? How about spherical pong?

Do another Columbo
Oh! One last thing. It's in 2D.

Pollen

Using your tools and your wit you must devise way to transport pollen from one flower to another.

Sounds easy? Think again! Pollen only has 20 levels of game play but each one requires a certain level of thought. Usually levels build up in difficulty to ease the player’s experience, however, in Pollen the player is sent straight to the action!

Is this a bad thing? Maybe, but you’re not stupid, you don’t need to be eased in.

This is the first game created since I stopped using Game Maker. I hadn’t made a game in a while and I wanted to see if I still had the know how.

This game has:
  20 brain busting levels
  FPS friendly antialaising and other effects
:D  Soft, ambient music
:D  Beautifull graphics
