Model Merging

25 October 2011 - 12:16 AM

Hello, so I was wondering how I might go about merging 2 .d3d model files... IN GAME. I know that there are various tools out there to do it, but how can I accomplish this while the player is playing? The idea behind it is: I need the player to have customization, and therefore multiple models of different pieces will need to be used, but I then also need all of those pieces to be assembled into a single model to greatly reduce the amount of rotation code for maximum optimization. Can I accomplish this in GM? Thanks for any help!

Space Skybox Needed!

20 October 2011 - 05:43 AM

Hello! I am in need of a 1440X1440 space skybox. The main color will of course be black, and it must fit an ellipsoidal, so about 20 pixels around the edge need to remain black as a frame so that the ellipsoidal blends well. Stars may range between light yellows, blues and whites (as realistic as possible), but MUST be small and look far away to make the skybox appear larger than it really is. This is going to be part of a sci-fi space-flight and combat game, the main movement engine is done and includes complete 360 degree pitch, roll and yaw. If you would like to see the engine before you begin work, pm me. It's already joystick compatible, and development will be fairly quick, so the sooner that I can get this the better. Credit WILL BE GIVEN. Thank you.

Physics. This is a biggun I think...

12 August 2011 - 12:41 AM

Hello everyone! I am trying to figure out a way to... well... apply physics. :P But not just generic-cheater physics, no, I mean conserved, translated and redirected momentum and velocity. Ever play any of the Tribes games? I'm talking things like skiing and those amazing sliding and smooth collisions. But how does one take the x velocity, y velocity and z velocity and then also take the x angle y angle and z angle of a poly in a map model and then translate the current momentum and direction into a new direction with a proportional amount of loss and gain to the moving object based on those model angles? I obviously know the general principle behind it buuuuuuuut.... I have NO idea how to actually pull it off... I'm going to be using P3DC dll for this, FYI. Because I am in fact trying for a Tribes style game. Thanks for input, and whomever can answer this well for me gets a serious heap of credit because well... this is in fact the hardest part of the engine right here. XD

Need a tribesman

10 August 2011 - 03:48 AM

Hello there, I am very interested in making a Starsiege: Tribes style game. I personally will be pouring out my heart and soul for this one, but I need some help.
PRIORITY: someone with experience in using P3DC dll. This is a momentum physics heavy game design. Jetpacks, skiing, water, etc. I need a programmer with decent experience in 3D programming who isn't afraid of working with tons of sloping terrain.
Anyone who would like to help with any other aspect is also welcome to pm me. I want to make this happen! I personally know a pretty good deal of gml and will be working on weapon loadouts, base defenses and basically everything non-physics oriented. My programmer needs to be dang good with math because I know that there will be a lot of angle calculation needed to adjust friction on slopes (which is almost entirely what they will be working on). PM me if interested! Thanks!

I need a "hand"

25 June 2011 - 12:19 AM

So as the title dictates, I need a hand. Actually, 2 of 'em. As in I am requesting some 3D models of hands and arms to about the elbow, they are to be used from a first person perspective for a 3D free-run game. Texture to go with them would be nice too. They don't need to be very detailed at all, but they need to be MUCH better looking than a ball on a stick. They need to be balled into a fist and if a texture is provided, it simply needs to be black with some shading to outline muscle form/joints on the hands/arm like a black jumpsuit. Credit will be given and the help will be greatly appreciated, no money though, sorry... While this game WILL be completed, it will be free and for fun only, not a marketing venture. We still want it to look nice though. ;)
Thanks,
