To clarify on the latest one, the first intended funny part was that a troll says something good and gets +reps, but then edits it into sth real bad.

No you don't need to know anything beforehand! Most of them are just punchlines! Just like the latest one where the funny part is the 'group' and the 'editing'

I do enjoy them, but I suppose they're one of those things that make most sense when you already know the context, which I usually don't. I do still read them regularly though :)
