A few decades back, somebody made a game. It was called Shop Steward and it was a trade union simulation game. Text-based. My father got into contact with the creator a year or two ago. He obtained the source code for that game. It was originally made in BASIC. Not hard to understand, not hard to port. My father made a SmallBASIC port within a week. I took considerably longer to make a BlitzMAX port, what with BMX being more like C than BASIC.
Both worked in an almost identical way to the original. We took some time making the all-caps strings properly punctuated. That took a whopping ten minutes. Then we were stumped. I made a GameMaker port as well, because that was another challenge, but that also didn't change much from the original.
How do you update a text-based simulation game to the new generation? The new millennium of gaming expects high-quality graphics with fast-paced techno music, something impressive to make their eyes explode. How do you turn Shop Steward into 21st century game?

Gmrealm Wants You.
23 March 2008 - 10:24 PM
GMRealm is no stranger to game development. Founded on October 12th 2005 to aid production of Connor Beaton's RPG legend A Quest for A Kingdom, it quickly spread and developed popular puzzle series Ice Cubes, a franchise so popular the license was sold to Wanilla Games Team, who proceeded to produce Ice Cubes 3D. The team is no small group either. Programmer Connor Beaton, musician Billy Hayne, artist Daniel Arruda Massa, spriter Eric Ruth, and others helped bring together a powerful crusade against bad games.
And now we want you.
GMRealm has three games in production:
The Dragons' Realm
A console-style RPG with a complex plot and deep characters. We need artists and composers to go on.
familiar faces
A 3D first person shooter with a dark plot and many complex levels. We need concept artists and 3D modellers to go on.
Escorpias 2009
A dark fantasy horror first person shooter. When a Scottish town is taken over by Scorpias, a mutated breed of poisonous scorpions, deranged Alex Emmett must lead himself and two other survivors through the sewers of Edinburgh to salvation. We need concept artists and 3D modellers to go on.
If you think you can help with any of these projects, PM me or send a message to cb@gmrealm.co.uk

Back then, our team was:

Gmrealm Game Development Team

The GMRealm Game Development Team are the proud creators of games such as "Ice Cubes", "The World's Chance", "The Dragons' Realm: Masters of Ultimate Destruction" and many others.
If you join now, you may get a chance to aid the game creation too! GMRealm is currently recruiting for the current jobs:
Composers need to be able to compose per request and be able to export to Ogg Vorbis format.
Programmers are required to be able to program for GameMaker 7, and in order to handle the source code, MUST have GameMaker 7 Pro.
Translators are required to know English and one other language fluently. We already have a translator for English into Deutsch, so none of those translators are required.
Thanks in advance.

Request: Logo!

I need a logo, kay? If you don't understand me so far, then you probably can't make a logo anyway, so you can save yourself the trouble of reading the rest
.
Now, I'm looking for a size of around 768x90. I would like the background image to be the spaceship and sun from this image. There should be text on the logo, looking handwritten, should be in white (maybe a bit of glow, if possible). It should say "The Café Gallifrey".
Final piece of information about the logo: I'd like there to be some grey scanlines on the image, identical to the ones on my avatar.
Thanks in advance
