I just want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone's supportive emails and encouraging comments and private messages to me.  You know who you are.  Those messages mean the world to me, and I appreciate very much your encouragement and care.  You guys are the reason I keep writing music.

And to answer the one question I keep getting:  Yes, I'm still composing music on here.  But not in the "request-a-song" format.  I prefer to discuss and work with you on your project, like two people collaborating, so that I can get a more accurate feel for your project and write better music for you.  I think that was my mistake the first time around; most of the projects I wrote for, I was writing for blindly.  And I'm sure other composers on here will agree with me when I say writing "blindly" for projects can be a huge Hit and Miss situation, and can result in a lot of wasted time and effort.  Screenshots, demos, a good idea of your game, some discussion, some collaboration ... I think that's necessary and helpful to a composer trying to get on the same train with a game designer  =)

We're all here to make the best of the best, so let's work in a way that ensures that out of both game maker and composer.

i know this isnt a game maker game but can you make some music for my flash rpg?

Of course!  I'm not game-maker exclusive.  I'll write a theme song for your pet gerbil, too.

Well for my request, I asked for a main theme and a battle theme for each of the 3 playable factions in my game. I'd like to change that request to:
*a main theme
*a good battle theme (for when the player is playing as that group, or when they're on the player's side)
and
*an evil battle theme (for when that group is the villain in the game).

Let's discuss ... Are you sure it's necessary to have two different battle themes for each faction?  Perhaps you have a purpose for them, but--Let me picture this.  When you are playing one faction, will you be hearing the good battle theme for your own group, or the evil battle theme for the opposing group?  Surely you won't be hearing both of them at once.  And two battle themes for one group ... I don't know, I'm going to have a time trying to differentiate them.

I suggest having one battle theme per group, and having that one theme be the inspirational tune you hear while performing as that particular faction.  Otherwise, your game is going to become heavy with extra battle tunes you might not require or may never hear.  Or another solution, if you still require an "opponent" battle theme, how about having a battle theme for each of the three factions, and then a fourth 'evil' battle theme which encompases all opponents?

Just trying to be economical here.

If you had a different use in mind for the multiple battle themes, then let me in on it.
But fully realize and appreciate that you are asking me to write you SIX battle themes.  That's one fat dish to serve.

im not in any hurry so there is no need to rush, but how long does it usually take to make a piece, and i have umm.... 6

I'll estimate a few weeks until I get to yours.  Unfortunately, I'm a man with a full-time day job struggling to pay bills when I'm not here writing music.  As desperately as I wish my circumstances were different, I'm unfortunately not at my desk writing tunes all day long chugging caramel frappuccinos like a bus chugs gasoline.

BUT! ... on each day that I *am* writing music all day long (i.e... my rare days off)  I get at least 4 to 6 or so requests knocked out of the way.  And if they're small requests, I've finished even 8 in one sitting.

So, let's be optimistic.   =)

Oh, oops.  I misinterpreted your original message.
If you find yourself still without an overworld theme, I can give it another try.  I understand how that tune sounds kind of 'packed' as you put it.  I assume that means you're looking for something looser or lighter or more 'open' for your overworld?  I suppose this is what we get for me trying to compose blindly ... It can be hit or miss sometimes  =)

That's ok, I think any reasonable person would understand.

And I was wondering if I could adjust my original requests without being bumped to the bottom of the list?

I appreciate that  =)  And sure...  Editing your original request doesn't bump you to the end of the list.  Edit your request 900 times if you want.  Even if it's at the top of the list when you edit it, I'll see what I can do to accommodate you.

Keeping me in the loop is the important thing, and I'll try to do the same.

I'll take this opportunity to apologize to everyone who is still waiting, though.

To fill you guys in, my personal life has taken quite a burden of things in the past several weeks that have greatly slowed my progress in writing free music for all of you, and I've been lucky to get just a single song out a week.  I'm hoping things clear up in this coming week and that I find the time to knock out a good several many for you, since my queue is still quite long.  Things are beginning to look up and I hope they remain that way.

Yes, I do realize some of you have been waiting nearly a month for your music.

If any of you are past your deadlines and whatnot, I'm deeply sorry and I hope you were able to find what you needed from another composer or source.  If any of you are APPROACHING your deadlines, DO let me know and I will do what I can to get music to you asap.  If anyone has already backed away and used another composer's music, please let me know so I can remove you from the queue and consider your work done.

For all others, I am getting myself sorted out and at the first moment will start up my writing of free music.
