Room_goto(global.variable)

Hey gang, quick question. I can't seem to get this to work and I assume i'm just doing this the wrong way. there is a variable I use (let's, for example sake say it's as follows) global.room_up = "room2". Now when a character collides with a certain object, it executes the code:

room_goto(global.room_up)

But for some reason, it will not go to that room. Can this function not read a variable like I tried to tell it to do?

PS: Didn't use a codebox because it was too bulky for one line, hope it doesn't bother anyone  :)

What Makes Good Game Music?

Hello all, just a quick question here. I want ot here people's input on this subjects.

Video Game Music and Soundtracks are among almost every title. But in game, what makes them easy to listen to? What makes them annoying or stand out? I'm curious because I'm not sure how I should go about adding music to my recent project. So tell me...

How do you like your in-game soundtracks?

I'm sure I, and some other lurkers, could learn form this topic.  ;)

Solid To One Object, Passable To Another?

Hey gang, been a While since I've posted here-- years I think. But I just got back into GM and bout 7.0 Pro, started developing a project, and ran into trouble. ;)

I have it so that a bullet object (good_bullet) can pass through a wall (cover wall). It passes through or 'over' it because this is a top-down-shooter game. Now that works fine, but I need the enemies (and possibly, but not absolutely necessary) the player (main_char) to see this wall as solid.

Is there a way to bring these conflicting views together at one time, without switching the solidity of the object (that's an absolute no-go).

Move To Collision, But For A Specific Object

Yo, GMC! I need to have an object (bullet) and i need it to move to a collision, much like the drag-and-drop action, but it needs to move to a specific object(blue_person).

any tips/suggestions? Thanks you!

CONTROLS:

W A S D= Walk

Mouse=Aim

Left Mouse Button= Shoot

Right Mouse Button= Toss grenade

Space Bar= Action Button / Grab Ammo  (turn on computer, open/close doors etc...)

Control (Ctrl)= View Grenades, Health Status, and Ammunition Amounts.


Graphically challenged, i will up date every single thing to be more realistic by the time this game is finished.
