About Me
Hmm, Well I've been using GM since '06. I started with GM6.1, but upgraded to 7 not long after.
I've made a ton of games, but only a fraction have been published.
I've participated in every GMC jam since Jam#4. I also hope to enter Ludum Dare one day, but I always seem to have schedule conflicts. I program purely in GML, and I'm always trying to brush up on my syntax. My most recent achievement; putting parentheses around if statements
I'm also learning a bit of Java on the side. I just made a simple swear-filter program. I spend most (if not all) of my time these days procrastinating, and finding new and exciting ways to avoid working on games. Despite my best efforts, I've completed many games within the last 7 years.
Non-Jam games
Escape from Malken (2008): First published game. Pretty much a clone of the game "Redhero", but less well made.
Roof Rescue (2008): Actually, the idea behind this game is pretty fun. It's pretty poorly made though. I might make a(nother) sequel one day.
Rodent Rampage (2008): Generic, badly made scrolling shooter.
Roof Rescue2 (2008): Crappy puzzle game. Sullies the name of roof rescue. My first large-ish project.
Dreams (2009): I liked this game as well. After my failure to make a puzzle-platformer out of Roof Rescue 2, I was surprised to see that this one worked.
Retro Kite (2009): Nice little jump-n-run arcade game with multitasking. I made this game after searching "Kite" on YYG and finding no results.
A Simple Shooter (2009): Fairly generic scrolling asteroids-type shooter. Still a bit fun to play.
μητέρα-των-ζώων This is invisible. I wonder if anyone will ever read this. TheUltimate has gotten the "First Reader of invisible typeface award". And "Second Reader of Invisible Typeface award." Congratulations. Anyway, If you're reading this, you can shoot me a PM or comment on my profile, and I'll add you to the 'Hall of readers.' BETA TEST HATZ!!! (2009): Puzzle platformer WIP that I scrapped soon after posting this demo.
Cloud Hopper (2010): My first game that I think can even start to measure up against my current games. I like the graphical style and gameplay on this one, and it's all randomly generated.
RokT (2010): Top down puzzle shooter thing. It was okay. I remember that I was putting the finishing touches on this at a party for some reason...
Another Simple Shooter (2010): A sequel to A Simple Shooter. Not very similar, except in it's shooter-ness. It has ten difficulty settings, 4 bosses, and a lot of enemy types.
Henry's Balloon Kwest: (2011): A collaboration I did with RekNepZ and Feerple. It's not exactly long, but I really like it all the same. The only one of these games with a GMC topic.
Hatz (2012/2013): A hardcore platformer with over 50 levels. It's still in WIP at the mo', but I'm hoping to start beta testing soon. PM if you want to beta test.
Jam Games
The Door (Jam#4, tied for last): A hard-to-control platform adventure. It fit the theme because you had to figure out the new "Laws" of physics.
ICTOAT (Jam#5, tied for last): The spiritual successor to Dreams. It uses the same character design, and story based gameplay. This time it was a pseudo-platform adventure though.
RgB (Jam#5, tied for last): A shooter with a twist. Unfortunately, people could get past the twist by spamming the buttons ![]()
Sea of Tranquility (Jam#6, 25th): A weird puzzle-platform mashup. I think this was my most innovative entry so far. It really did something I hadn't seen before.
Dual Personality (Jam#7, 3rd): I collaborated on this one with Follomania and TheUltimate. My job was audio and level design. I'm not sure how well I did with those, but we did take third place, so I'll assume pretty well. TheUltimate did all the awesome graphics, and Follomania programmed all the complex mechanics. We all came up with the idea.
eVERYONE eXPLODES (Jam#8, 10th): TheUltimate gave me a couple of her ideas for this one, and I picked the funnest to make one. It's a platform action where you can shoot everything, and everything explodes. (Health pickups, enemies, buildings, etc.)
AGTFTH (Jam#8, 49th): A game I made to openly flaunt the handicap. Everything in the game is text. Won best use of handicap ![]()
The Music (Jam#9, 9th): This is the jam game I've worked the hardest on. It's a top-down-adventure-shooter. I made everything within the time limit this time. Music, graphics, idea. (Except a fatal bugfix which I had to fix in the few minutes after the jam. Luckily, Nocturne let me fix it. I submitted it minutes before the deadline. I got normal amounts of sleep, but other than that, I didn't do much but work on it. Once I lost my graphic pad stylus, and lost a half-an-hour looking for it. It turned out to be in my hat...
Skyscraper Kingdoms (Jam#10, 17th): After testing my limits for making a game in 72 hours last jam, I finally crossed them this jam. I was extremely ambitious with this one. It was a 2d platform-view real time strategy game where you'd build a skyscraper which was also a town. It included several buildings such as armories, theaters, and hospitals which you could use to make your city stronger. The enemy AI was pitifully weak, and wouldn't even attack back when under siege. The game felt very unfinished, and there were many bugs, especially with the AI. Still, I'm glad I did it.
Glad to hear you're still working on some of your old games :-). I still remember playing JD in the jam. 'Course it wasn't as good back then. I'll try getting around to posting in the game topic at some point.

In Topic: Wizard Battle - All Good Things...
16 June 2013 - 06:38 PM
The Wizard formerly known as the Mage of the Mollusk sped though space. He quickly observed who had come and gone since his death. It appeared that with Vorkiblo gone, MikeDark_X
was now the most evil wizard in the battle. He had started out attacking only those who were evil, but now seemed to attack wildly and randomly.
It was time for him to go.
WFKATMOTM grabbed the 7Token he'd created several turns earlier out of his pocket and bit down on it. It tasted like disgusting grape medicine, but he could feel that it had worked. He
adjusted his trajectory slightly to aim for the place where Mike now was. He also heard a message from Bob in his head. He hadn't head that voice in so long. (Well, technically he'd never
heard it all, but that's neither here nor there).
He beamed a quick message back to Bob explaining his current situation, the need for the extra hp, and an apology. He then returned his attention to what he was doing. He was growing close
to Mike's location. He looked forward, and saw a frozen planet looming. He suddenly realized that at this velocity, he'd have very little HP left indeed for fighting MikeDark.
He quickly cast an INVERSION spell on the fire extinguisher turning all the fire retardant foam inside into gasoline, then used a handy roll of duct tape to stick the trigger to permanently on.
He created a tiny, infinitely-burning ember, and stuck it too to the extinguisher. He then aimed it directly away from Mike's planet, and let go. The improvised Molotov cocktail spiraled
towards the planet below. It disappeared below the cloud layer, and a moment layer, there was a brilliant flash.
"That ought to have melted it enough for it to make a pleasant landing", WFKATMOTM thought.
He landed in the immense milkshake ocean with a resounding "Splut". He clambered to his feet. There was still an infinite fireball not too far away. It was moving very unpredictably. Mike
was also nearby. He looked like he'd been injured pretty bad by the initial fireball, and Umbra, having been made of shadow, would have dissipated once confronted with such a bright flash.
He spotted Speedchuck lying dazed some 70 yards away.
"Oops, maybe I should have checked for other life forms before wreaking havoc on the planet,..."
WFKATMOTM ran over to Mike, drawing his now-restored sword-staff. Before he could reach him, Mike teleported away. WFKATMOTM latched on the the tele-stream, and followed. He
came out where Vorkiblo had just disappeared from. There was a beautiful planet there. He looked around, and he spotted Mike, beginning to fade away.
"Not so fast," WFKATMOTM snarled, and charged.
Before the universe ended, he could dispatch one more villain.
The fight that followed was a blur. The WFKATMOTM gave it all he got. He hacked and slashed, interspersing the tough swordplay with deadly magical blasts. His one great advantage over
Mike was his magical sword-staff. It would restore twice the amount of damage it caused. All the same, the fight was vicious, and WFKATMOTM was almost defeated several times, but he
kept getting up. After what seemed like an age, WFKATMOTM delivered a particularly complex sword combo, and MikeDark staggered backwards. WFKATMOTM, pressed forward,
seizing on this advantage. Mike was still blocking most strokes, but each time their swords clashed together, Mike grew a little weaker. Finally, WFKATMOTM struck Mike's sword, and it fell
from the other wizard's hands. With a single stroke, WFKATMOTM stabbed him though the heard. The other wizard's eyes glazed over, and he fell backwards.
WFKATMOTM waded though a field of flowers aimlessly. The air seemed more solid than before. Things were certainly ending, and very soon. MotM wandered across the surface, as if in a
dream. His vision was growing blurry.
"Maybe I'll just take a nice nap...", he thought. He sleepily conjured 50,000 pillows, and collapsed on them. He could hear a song going though his head. It was vague and unreal.
WFKATMOTM faded ever-so-slowly out of existence, leaving nothing but a comatose snail in his wake.
Sorry for the second wall of text in as many updates.
It won't happen again, I promise
The Wizard Formerly Known as the Mage of the Mollusk hurtled though space. This was his last chance to fight evil.
Quickly reviewing the remaining wizards, he decided that MikeDark_X was the most evil since Vorkibo had disappeared. He altered his course towards the frozen milkshake planet where he was. When he got close, he converted the infinite fire extinguisher into an incendiary bomb by changing the contents into gasoline. The flung it down at the planet to ensure a soft landing in slush. He drew his sword, which had reformed when he respawned.
When he recovered from the landing, he spotted Mikedark not too far away. He looked very wounded by the blast, but quickly warped to another planet. Following the warp trail, he appeared on a lush planet. He charged Mike and attacked. His HP doubling sword was a great asset. After killing MikeDark, he created 50,000 pillows, and faded slowly off to sleep...

I'm certainly planning to enter the next one.
It will be at the end of August, right?
