[Solved] Colour Values in Game Maker

07 December 2010 - 04:07 AM

So I've been tinkering around with something, and I've come to a point where I need to get a the RGB values of a colour. Unfortunately, the situation does not allow for me to use the usual means of using make_color_rgb(), so I need to somehow get the RGB values from the integer that Game Maker stores.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how that integer is calculated, and I can't seem to figure out how I can extract colour data from it. In case you aren't sure what I'm talking about, the colour white, with (r,g,B) = (255, 255, 255) has an integer value of 16777215. The integers produced are unlike anything I've come across, and I can't seem to find anything about it anywhere, so please, if you can, explain to me how to get the RGB values of a colour out of this integer.

Thanks!

How To Check If There Is A Line Break In A String?

01 June 2010 - 07:10 PM

Essentially, I have a string with several line breaks in it, and I iterate over the entire string character by character. I would like to be able to tell where the line breaks are, but all that I have tried does not work.

Take the string,

"Hello world
you are looking good today."

When I iterate through the characters, I need the game to know that there is a line break after world.

Thanks so much,

High Quality 3d Models On Request

17 May 2010 - 12:10 AM

I have been away for a long time, but one of my favorite things to do when I used to come here often was offer my services to help people with their graphics. Now that I'm back, I can't wait to get started again!

If you want a model, please give me as much information as you can! If there is insufficient information, I will ask you to clarify, if you do not, I will not accept your request.

What I need from you:

Description of the Model:
Concept art/Reference Images:
File Format:
Polygon Range:
Extra Information:

My preferred file formats are .3ds or .obj. The more concept or reference images you can give me, the better. If you don't know exactly how many Polygon's it should have, tell me what you will be using it for, and I will use my best judgment. Finally, if there is anything special you want to add, put it under "Extra Info".

The models will take time, so while I will gladly take your requests, please don't flood me with them. If I get too many, it will become very difficult for me to keep up!

So... REQUEST AWAY!

I have been asked for examples. Here is a medium-poly car that I just modeled, (took me 45 minutes). I didn't take the time to texture it or anything. In short, I can do much better, but if you want something complex, it is going to take me a lot longer, possibly days, possibly a week.

The Effect Of Yyg On The Community?

16 May 2010 - 08:34 AM

I was just wondering. I've been away from the forums for a substantial amount of time, but back in the day, I visited religiously. After school, I'd rush home to check the forum. In the morning, I'd wake up early so I could check the forum. Now I have returned, and I'm here to stay, for awhile at least!

But I has a wonder... primarily for those users here who were around before YoYoGames existed...

Has this community changed drastically?

At one point, this community was the primary website for GameMaker. Traffic here was enormous. I remember several server migrations because they just couldn't handle the load. I remember trying to post, only to find the servers were flooded!

With efforts to make YYG the primary site for GameMaker, now, I wonder how this has changed. Answers in the Novice section were usually dealt with within an hour or two. I just wonder, has YYG caused a dwindling of activity here? Is it the same old bustling town, or has it become more of a tight-knit community?

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you guys in the future

No Longer In Service

12 November 2008 - 06:29 AM

I am Currently Doing a Request, And I am not Doing Anymore!

Hello. I have been VERY busy over the last.... year, but I have decided to get back into 3D modeling. So my decision is this. I will model only ONE 3D model and it will be for the first person to post who meets the criteria. It can be whatever you want, from a cardboard box to a dragon, I am willing to do it. That being said, I will NOT animate. Here is what you must provide:

1)What it is.
2)Preferred polycount.
3)Preferred file format.
4)Images as a reference would be great and would certainly speed up my work!

Please note that if the request is difficult, it WILL take me some time to do. I will keep you updated though! So, first legitimate requester gets it!

(Also, do not link me to your topic. If you can't be bothered to copy and paste it over here, then I can't be bothered to do your request.)
