Turn Based Battle System?

Hi, I'm kinda new to Game Maker. So, I have to create a project for school, and I need to make a turn based battle system for my game. How can I make it so that the game will prevent the player from attacking when it is not their turn? Like, I want to disable the attack buttons when it is not the player's turn. I also want to create a dodging bullet hell system similar to the one in the game Undertale, but I'm not sure how to do all that. If anyone could help me, that would be great :) The project is due in a few days, so I need an answer quickly.. thank you to anyone who can help!

Googling some basic tutorials on how to use Gamemaker will teach you how to figure this stuff out on your own. People generally don't like to tutor for free, but there are Youtube videos that will do just that for you.


Turn based is simply one variable. turn = 0 or turn = 1. Behind all the movement code you can write an if statement checking the turn variable.
