Hey everyone,

I have a question about width and height pixels in room in GM:Studio

I have a character who has 64 pixels height and about 50 pixels weight, that is enough I think.

My room width is 1024 pixels and my room height is 768 pixels.

But the result doesn't satify me

Look :

I find my character too small and I don't want to resize everything, unless it's the only solution...

Any thoughts about that? Is it normal?

Thanks

Sky

Do you know how views work?

You can use views to "zoom" in and out to show more or less of the rooms. So no, you don't have to resize the assets if that is what you where thinking.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for your quick answer!

Yes, actually I use views in my game.

But I don't use them for zoom in or out but when I have big rooms (my game is a BIG puzzle platformer)

Hmm ok, I'll see what I can do with views for zoom in a little bit my game.

Thanks god, I don't want to resize all my sprites !

But, what do you think about the size resolution 1024x768, is it the good (standard) resolution for mobile games?

I would have to agree with this, if you don't want to resize sprites than the best way to 'resize' would be to decrease the height and width of your view. Even if by 10% or something fractional, it may give you the correct feeling for your game.

I think 800x480 works really well for mobile apps - setting your view to that resolution should also effectively 'zoom' in the graphics a bit.
